I have become convinced that people get addicted to speed. One of the fastest ways to make some people's blood boil is simply making them drive a little slower; even if it's so marginal that it can't actually possibly affect when they arrive at their destination they become furious.
The US loves to have wide, straight roads with great visibility and no obstacles on which cars could easily, safely do 80MPH (in the absence of other drivers of course) but with artificial limits of 30-40 miles per hour that everybody obviously ignores because - hey, just look at the road, it's begging for people to go faster. The Netherlands by comparison generally does a great job of managing drivers' expectations by adding artificial curves, places where cars have to gently swerve, setting trees along the roads that give a feeling of constraint and not "wide open place to floor it", etc. Of course you still see people here losing their minds because they have to wait for pedestrians to cross once the light turns green, but it's not as bad as my experiences in the US.
One. My man, at the federal level there's 435 members of the House and 100 members of the Senate. At the state level there's 50 governors and 7,383 total legislative seats.
I don't think you can blame Democrats for being spoilers to "actual socialists" when "actual socialists" aren't on the damn menu.
According to Wikipedia there's 102 DSA-aligned (who are Democratic-Socialists and not "actual socialists") politicians at the federal and state level. Out of 7,968 seats. Barely over 1%.
I'll admit I left the US a few years ago, so I may be a little out of the loop but.. what fucking "actual socialist" candidates? Are there more than three yet?
I'll gladly criticize the DNC and upper Democratic Party leadership all fucking day long, but I say this as a quasi anarchist / socialist-libertarian: they are fucking leagues better than the republicans who are racist and xenophobic to their core, stealing unimaginable amounts of money from everybody they can, are defending a goddamn cabal of child raping pedophiles, and are doing their fucking best to establish a fascist state.
"oH bUt hE dOeSnT lIkE uNiVeRsaL hEaLtHcArE!!" yea fuck him, but to compare that failure to people actively protecting child rapists? Fuck offfffffffff.
That's not completely true though, which is why I find it so baffling. My mother was a professor that taught English literature and Greek mythology, my step father wasn't nearly as educated but he designed trusses for new buildings. They weren't / aren't the bottom 3rd of the bell curve but they still fell for this assholes promises.
I think being an idiot makes it more likely that somebody will like Trump, but it's not the full story. Conservatism, specifically the desire for a stratified society led by an authoritarian that will protect them and punish "the other" is a far greater indicator I believe.
I grew up in that kind of environment and I still don't understand it. My parents were the sort that used their bedroom TV as an alarm clock; it was set to turn on at 05:55 to the Fox News channel so they wouldn't miss any of Fox & Friends while they got ready in the day. Commute to work? Rush Limbaugh, G. Gordon Liddy, Laura Schlessinger, etc. Back at home, up until dinner was served? More Fox News.
And even with the experience of growing up around that -- I still just can't understand it. Yes, those people are dumb as fuck but still; the inability to recognize that he's a bad conman is just baffling. The same people that ranted about "coastal elites" decided to elect a pompous asshole from a coastal state with a fucking golden toilet and a scam university.
I will absolutely never be able to understand the appeal he has to some people. Nor can I forgive those idiots for falling for his obvious fucking horseshit.
There's lots of great examples of this across the Netherlands as well, Amsterdam and Nijmegen come to mind personally. After WWII so many places were rebuilt for cars, only for people to eventually realize that was a bad idea and begin designing with people in mind first.
It's long past time we treat the egregious hoarding of wealth like the mental disorder that it is.
I just finished my domains from them; absolutely ridiculous to charge almost $40 to renew a domain that was $6 the year before.
I remember very well people being revolted by online advertising and how it commercialized a free place.
They were right.
Meanwhile, when I ask my mother her opinion about this: "but Hunter Biden made so many corrupt deals and he was doing crack!"
American living in the Netherlands, and I knew of him before moving to Europe. I like some of his music, "Tripping" has a fun video.

If they give others the same courtesy, then absolutely. Trump never does, so does not.
Trump doesn't deserve any courtesy, as he never gives it himself.
That's an incredibly generous way of saying "is cheating and robbing the rest of the world blind whenever he can"

I agree with this. Mine entered hospice without even telling me; I found out he died from his friends.
You just have to work with what you're given, and do a better job for your own children.

"Hardly better" ?

I once saw Sam Elliot walking out of a Best Buy and holding a large pack of AA batteries, it was awful.

Baffling. Just fucking baffling.

That seems to be the case for many societal changes that come from the common people, rather than being forced by people already in power.
Create a separate card for that ingredient, and in the main card list "add X% of "
