I grew up in Sugarhouse and recently moved to Millcreek after being out of the area for a while. I like being close to most things with very little traffic, also handy having usable pubic transit. I'm not a bar crawler but Tailgate Tavern has great open mic nights.
One pain point I commiserate with mentioned here is the fractured nature of finding federated communities, which I don't see any easy way to solve.
