Maybe it’s not for you, but for me game preservation is important and when I see how large games are now, it makes me wonder how people will be able to store them for future generations. And then there are DRM’s..

It might be the last game I’ll buy on my Playstation 5 as I’m clearly transitionning to GOG/Steam instead.

I can understand why they would not have many discs the way we used to, but these kind of practices makes me wonder about what’s gonna happen if we want to play the game in 30 years.

Oh that's great! I don't think I'll be able to really run it on my Steam Deck, but it's good news for when I'll get something a tad more powerful!

Well I managed to get a windows VM running and decrypt the files, but it was then impossible to export the files at a reasonnable speed (3 hours to write 30 gb/s on a USB stick so I gave up). Having a shared file through the Spice tools didn't work as the file would stop copying at 99% and using something like Localsend to send it to another device doesn't work as the VM was using a virtual network and not a real wifi..

I'm kind of desperate to find a way out of this situation..

I then tried to install Cdemu (https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/rok/cdemu/) or Acetone (https://packages.fedoraproject.org/pkgs/AcetoneISO/AcetoneISO/) but I keep bumping into difficulties..

Ps3 Disc Dumper was so easy to use on Windows and it's so frustrating that exporting the files was the problem, especially when the Linux version should be as easy to use..

I enjoyed the first one and 75% of the second one and I’m always tempted to give it a go again, until I remember how I disliked the end of the second one or maybe the beginning of the third one.

I feel kind of stupid but I've installed Wine and Winetricks and I can't get the program you proposed to work.

I've also tried with WineCharm, Winezgui and Play On Linux 4...

At one point it kind of told me that it was because off a missing .net 6.0.32 library but I struggle to do anything with it after downloading it..

If I really have to, I’ll just create a Windows 10 virtual machine in Gnome boxes, but I’d want to avoid it😇

This is what I use. I don’t remember what does what, bit I wouldn’t enjoy Gnome as much without them.

Yeah I guess something like NixOS might be the solution for me, even if it apparently comes with a steep learning curve..

But it would not really answer my need to discover new distros and DEs while saving my settings in case I wanna go back to my old distros and.

It’s easier to install Linux on my 2012 MacBook Pro than in my 2018 Surface Go 1. With intel macs I think the only problem can be the wifi but it’s fairly easy to solve.

Could you tell me what’s supposed to be in /home and what’s supposed to be in /etc ?

What do you do when you install a new install? You replace the installed version of these with your old version?

But would this include how my dock is configured, what extensions I’m using, what programs are installed and things like this?

But would backing up user data really make me able to install the same distro on a new computer without having to set up anything?

I don’t know if it’s useful, but they are all running distros with only default settings changed and program installed.

The only modification I’ve done is installing some broadcom drivers for the MacBook. The rest is quite stock/vanilla except extensions and workflow tweaking.

For now none of mines was good out of the box, but it’s true they were blockbusters like Killzone, God of War or Uncharted.

In a way I understand, but it would still be nice to have everything centralized.

I mean emulated PS3 trophies are probably not gonna be on the same account as emulated PS4/5 trophies..
