I believe (but I'm not positive) that was on account of something else; the script had thrown a network-related exception overnight (I'm in east coast USA, UTC-4) and I didn't restart it until I woke up. I read a little more about the API specs today and the more I learn, the more I realize I'm doing hacky stuff instead of utilizing the native commands that do what I need. I've made a couple changes since then https://git.teets.us/grapemane/MastodonDreamBot/commit/6ba075987b1f3910cd462b9cfa151ba1386bd36e

Ah shucks. I just created a twitter account the same day I created my account here, for the purpose of drumming up interest for my game that's in development. They're making it less and less appealing to be on Twitter by the day

Awesome! Thanks again for putting so many resources towards this instance!

I'm curious if there are certain behaviours that should be done sparingly to be a good steward of your hosting - e.g. does it eat up a lot of HDD space if I subscribe to many communities outside of this instance?

The gif I posted in the other comment is only 1 second and is ~1/10th of an MB, is that content now going to sit on your drive taking up space forever?

Very cool, I'll need to keep an eye out for opportunities like that. My homelab is a measly i7 from 2012 with 16 gb of ram. I will be hosting gameservers soon for a racing game I'm developing and have begun to look into cloud servers. I'm honestly not crazy about cloud servers but I don't know how I can get enough network upload speed otherwise.

We share the enjoyment of self hosting! I've been using XWiki like crazy lately, documenting my game as I work on it, leaving myself notes on my various docker containers and their configurations, cataloguing the different hot sauces I try. I'm also quite keen on ownCloud for file sharing, Gogs for git repos, and Redmine for project/ticket management.
