I remember that when Quebec had their referendum, the Indigenous peoples in that province also had their own referenda to remain in Canada. I also remember a news report of the Indigenous people saying that if Quebec tried to keep the Indigenous lands in the northern regions, they would blow up the power lines to the James Bay project.

Separation would mean civil war, which would mean a perfect excuse for the US military to step in "temporarily" to "protect Canada". In other words, divide and conquer.

Let's at least make the fights over things that aren't important, like bragging rights for sports, vs. a shiny house at the expense of paying proper taxes to fund mental health care and enough basic food and housing for all.
