Just as a follow up, I got home and could check. It's the Tina2 Basic. None of my paperwork or anything mentions an app or AI. Again, not the best. Certainly can't argue for or against it really. The only thing I'll add is that I dont use it for much either but it's been fine. I wouldn't have a 3d printer if it wasn't given to me as a gift. So I really have only printed a few models from it. The biggest annoyance I had was that it didn't hold on to big spools so I printed something that would hold them and that's been nice.
I can't answer your question fully but I'll try to be helpful. I got an Entina as a gift last year, my first printer as well and it works fine. I'm not sure what model it is but I've never used a phone app with it or any of the other picture taking things that they seem to list. I find a file I want online, slice it on my computer, then put the sd card in and print it. The printer is a bit slower than what the slicer says but not significantly so. The filament that came with it lasted me a couple of prints and then I got a different brand and that works just as well.
Yes very true. We're all happy to have Hoopla in my system it's just so hard to plan around because it's not a flat cost and we know there are though choices to make because we'd love to be able to offer more and better items through them but that only drives higher costs. I just wish they stopped the silliness of needing to purchase "new copies" so often. It might not be all on them, i know distributers are still very weird with all of the e-resources but it's still silly.
I don't have the same level of knowledge on the costs of Kanopy mostly because it doesn't garner the same level of attention in our system so it isn't a topic that's come up. But I'll check in on that. Hoopla came up cause we have cut the borrows down from 10 a month to 6 and it's now only for county residents not reciprocal borrowers as well. And we often don't have some of the best items available because of the additional costs.
Hoopla doesn't have a wait for their items but your library might not have the best items. Ours just made things like the Lord of the Rings books available for the next 3 months since we have some budget available and chose to use it that way. But those popular items cost a lot with Hoopla so most libraries probably don't carry them.
As a Librarian, Hoopla is great except for the fact that the company running it charges crazy prices and it's starting to become a real problem for library systems. Every thing you check out has a rental fee and then they make us repurchase the item after every 20-30 borrows. Compare that to regular books which can have 100+ borrows before needing to even be mended.
It's wonderful and I'm glad it exists but it's getting very costly.
I had so many experiences just like yours (including at the goblin camp) that I ultimately soured on the game altogether and haven't gone back (not sure if I will). I really wanted it to be more role-playing based but anything I see or experience just makes it look way too tactical and meta gaming for me to sink into.
But it's a beloved game so I know that it's mostly just me it doesn't work for. I hope you find whatever enjoyment you can from it.
I prefer my Dickens to be as dour and melancholy as possible. Which is why I've always liked the George C. Scott version the best myself. Other than sound volume issues with the blaring horns of doom I think it's great. But that's just me.
They sure did. They did Alanis Morriset and it was awesome. But seeing Jeff and Pup tossing microphones back and forth and be so in sync and having so much fun was legit the height of all.
I didn't know Jeff before that show but they were incredible. And Double Band was the best thing I've ever seen at a show ever. Love Jeff now and will see them any time
Some (obviously only blue) states are starting to implement some groups for themselves to fill the gap. Hopefully they have the budget and success with it to really help it blossom.
They HAD a group for digital infrastructure. Guess who was one of the first groups targeted by DOGE? 18F was the group that was all internal to upgrade services like Weather.gov, Free File and lots more.
Completely agree. My partner isn't always what I want but more often than not when you find your partner they are the ones that make you feel better after a particularly rough day
Neither of these statements have come to fruition yet thank God. Both the people and software are still there. And I'm hoping it stays that way. But things change real quick so I'm not holding my breath.
Your argument lacks credibility. If people didn't like extremes then we'd have similar outrage from those centrists when Elon Musk throws a Nazi salute or when people hurt cops and storm the Capitol building. Instead we get apologists and excuses. Meanwhile protestors of injustice are treated as if they've committed genocide caused they hurt a Walmart and people actually committing genocide get excused.
People don't worry about extremes. They worry about change of the status quo.
Also, the systemic issues within our country and the ability to ignore the system as a whole by the privileged is what gives you the power to say something like "reeorting to violence as a first resort" as if we haven't had ample evidence of attempts to bring accountability and change to the system that just gets ignored. Not only is it not a first resort but to the people who are suffering daily... Why should they care what level of resort it is? We excuse businesses for doing whatever it takes because "shareholder value" but when it comes to the poor and suffering they just follow the exact letter of the law and then some.
