I mean, if they had just kidnapped Maduro to try him and didn't pretend to own Venezuela otherwise...there could be a way to say it was arresting a criminal (who happens to be a head of state and has diplomatic immunity, but then you could argue that since Venezuela is not on paper a dictatorship and he stole the election, he is not the legitimate head of state...ok...take him to the ICJ, then, which you don't recognize...so...uh...jurisdiction...no...)

But when captain orange shitass says that they will run Venezuela, claim "victory", take the oil, threaten more attacks, not run new elections, not talk to neighbouring countries or allies when they have nothing, just the threat of getting themselves into another Vietnam with all of South America...it is not even just illegal, it is dumb.

What puzzles me is how the US sacrificed so many rights at the altar of "national security" (e.g. Patriot Act) only to let this happen in the clear...so none of it really mattered for "national security".
