Watching a live performance is going to have a different energy obviously. But seeing it recorded is still better than never seeing it at all.
The "art is ephemeral" is pure art school nonsense and 99% of the time ends up being turning into "art for the elite that can afford it." I thought it was silly in art school 30 years ago and have had 30 years to think about why I still think it's silly. It's one of those buttons for me that, when I see it, I have a really hard time not being harsh to the person regurgitating the sentiment.
Yeah it does. It can work just fine. Just because you have that opinion doesn't mean it's true. I also have a background in performing arts if we just want to appeal to authority...
But I've personally seen several recordings of live shows that were pretty good representations of the show itself. For a recent example, the recording of Hadestown with the orginal cast is pretty solid and I quite enjoyed it even after seeing the live show previously.
That's awesome! I don't think I've seen a Marx Brothers reference outside of very surface level Groucho, Harpo, or Chico. I used Zeppo as a internet handle for a long time. Really cool, and kind of excited, to see someone else that's a fan!
Off topic question but is your username a reference to the Marx Brother's movie Duck Soup's Rufus T Firefly character? I know it's not quite the same name but close enough to name me raise an eyebrow.
Right on. Just was throwing it out there. I don't think you should change it away from the title entitely just put something in there to make it easier to make a distinction. I think it's gonna be hard to tell people to look up the game that shares the exact name with an incredibly popular psychology experiment. I just doubt I'll be bring it up to other people very much cause there's an incredible burden on me to make a distinction.
At the end of the day you do you! I'll still check it out. I just think you might be getting in your own way a little bit the title. If that's what you want to name it then go for it. That's kind of the best part of doing a personal project! You can take advice you like and throw out the rest without having to get a consensus from marketing or some asshat in mgmt!
Far be it from me to criticize but do you think the fact that the name of the game and the scientific study share the same name might be causing you some exposure issues? It might be helpful to do something to differentiate it from the experiment. Like how American McGee's Alice did to separate themselves from that 50 different iterations of Alice in Wonderland.
I dunno. Feel free to ignore me. Seems like it could be fun and went ahead and wishlisted it to keep an eye on it. Either way good luck! Looking forward to try it out when it's released.

Ah yes the classic "I can't shop at a shitty gas station mall so I think brown kids should be put in cages." argument. It's a bold strategy, Cotton, lets see if pays off on one of the most leftest forums on the internet.
Cause json has become ubiquitous in a lot of other contexts. Heck on a ton of Cisco NXOS implementations you can even pipe output to json in the cli. It's also used in a shitload of application configurations now instead of a flat .conf file too. In fact when I really think about it, I haven't touched JS in a long freaking time (like years), but have probably touch json at least once a week. I just don't find it that far fetched that someone would be working with json daily and be incredibly divorced from it's original implementation.
Aliens is such an outlier in the orginal trilogy. Like it's an action movie jammed in between two horror films. In a way, it's kind of awesome that it exists like that because the horror gets to ratchet down if you're watching the whole trilogy. But the genre changing from horror > action > horror has always made it hard for me to compare Aliens to Alien 3. Alien is still the best out of all of them and might be the best sci-fi horror films ever made.
