Yes, it's a different Android based OS. It's privacy focused, hence having this feature, and only supports Google Pixel devices.
Android is just a version of Linux, so anyone can make a fork of it. Most Android device manufacturers do this, including your device having Samsung's rendition of Android and my OnePlus having OxygenOS (soon to be ColorOS), but anyone can do the same if they'd like. LineageOS is another super cool Android project.
Maybe this comes from a non-typed language perspective... As someone who learned in Java, I do not like it because yeah, type is way more important. If someone was coming from Python, I can see why they might think this...
Any new computer for $1000 bucks is going to have middling performance these days, I don't think Linus was arguing against that. He just appreciated the curated experience and whatnot. I'd argue that I've had a very similar experience on Kubuntu, but I will also say that the updates haven't always been as smooth as on my SteamDeck, but then again that's also true on Windows.
In the end I'm just glad that Linux is getting more attention overall. Maybe someone will see this, decide that the Steam Machine isn't the best for them, and install some other OS with KDE and have a similar experience. Whatever you think of Linus, him saying that 2026 is the year of the Linux desktop is a positive thing.
Just want to note that Molly IS Signal, just a fork of it with some added features, in case OP isn't aware. Definitly just go for Signal unless you have a specific reason to use Molly.

Personally, I've only had bad, awful, bitter experiences with friend's Kuriegs, but hey, maybe there's a way to have them make good coffee as well that I'm not aware of. This does make we want to implement this with a bean-to-cup auto-brewer, but I'm thinking that'd be a helluva lot more complicated.

Immich is the easiest self-hosted thing I've set up. It also might've been the first.
They do make button pressers, if your switch is the flat kind that could work I suppose.
I dunno what you expect us to tell you though, the switch is gonna turn off power to the circuit.
