I'm honestly just trying to post content to communities I'm interested in. If people show up and there's no content they'll just leave. I'm trying to submit interesting posts.
That being said... I think that we as users should monetarily support our instances. I do support the instance I use for Mastodon. I will do the same for Lemmy once I settle on one.

I've been uploading to Imgur still. Not a perfect solution, but I feel like it's better than blowing up the Lemmy instances.

That's the thing that kills me. There was a time when Digg was the king. Also for a while Slashdot. We left before and we can leave again.
