Google invested millions in making the fastest JS engine called V8. It is so good that it made JS a feasible backend language (node.js). I have a really fast machine so JS scripts cannot slow it down and Firefox's spidermonkey is more than fast enough and I really enjoy Firefox user experience
If you have the will you can do it. Even if not all communities are here yet, that could be a plus because at least for me reddit was a huge time sink without much benefit, there are better uses for my time
My submissions still hang indefinitely, but when I reload they are there. I dunno if this is something connected to lemmy's code itself or the server but it's a bit broken

Same. I wanted to try it because It combines lemmy and mastadon but functionally it is just not there and lemmy offers a much better experience IMO.
