@mattblaze@federate.social My favorite bit of the park. I was worried it might have been poisoned by Robert Moses but the space is part of the original Vaux and Olmsted design (RIP Casino) and the fountain is an 1873 design by Emma Stebbins https://www.nycparktours.com/the-story-of-bethesda-terrace-and-fountain/
@mattblaze@federate.social We had a fascinating one crossing the Chesapeake Bay for many years. After the bridge tunnel went in with zero rail service it slowly folded and the entire rail line has been scrapped. The barge was scrapped in 2018. Parts of the line are slowly being converted to trails now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bay_Coast_Railroad #rail #chesapeakebay #baycoastrailroad

@mattblaze@federate.social Wow, built during the Civil War. I was worried that Robert Moses was involved and the answer is a hard no. As opposed to the Casino he tore down. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bethesda_Terrace_and_Fountain

@kdenlive @kde Nice! How is Windows stability these days? I've been directing students to OpenShot but I won't cry if I can offer better.
@maleclypse why not a more consistent pace of change like every two days, or a 50% chance every day?
