I can't help but feel like this attitude is a byproduct of homework being the biggest part of a grade and not actually understanding the material.
These people think that because the "homework" is done, they're deserving of all the praise and acclaim. The system has conditioned them to think so, in many cases it's literally rewarded them for it. That's how we end up with so many idiots with degrees.
Asano isn't exactly representative of the average mangaka. He embraced technology ages ago and is well known for integrating 3D modeling into his process, namely his insanely detailed backgrounds. He's also been partnered with Unreal before, so it's very likely that he's either biased or has been spoonfed all the false promises of AI.
Japan in general hasn't really grasped the idea that AI is built off of decades of stolen work, much of it theirs.
