I'm hopeful. I want my next phone without Google or Samsung - and I really hope Motorola will deliver their promises.
And also that the upcoming phone have to have an extendable storage for me to buy. It is my main principle - unfortunately I had to give up on headphone jacks...
It's English. There are sane languages who knows to call them lilac-onion, lilac-cabbage. Tho your yellow ones... They get to be called red - because it is a good deep dark orange dye if you boil the outer layers. (For example for Easter Eggs).
That's true.
Right now my laptop barely runs a 1.4b indexed to nothing. And the family pc maybe can do around 10. Back in time we didn't think we would need bigger memory - because there were no games with next gen yet.... Pfft :D if only we knew...
My main problem is the ethics of their training data.
And the insane wasted amount of resources. And Imho the resources are not that insane if you only look at a single "small business/family" needs. If GPU and RAM prices would be normal - I would have my own that can run a 25b model - and I would be happy with that.
Home run models never go away. Even if you have some basic knowledge - generating some pictures, then manually editing it can save you days of work.
Not everyone will give this up - and some people can't afford to pay for human labor to replace their missing skills.
Who would hold them responsible? They won't even publish documents thats even steps before actually getting accused and prosecuted and punished?
The kid rapist elite has nothing to be afraid of. The DOJ has no power over them, while genuine US citizens are getting executed in daylight on the streets and human beings are held in worst condition than cattle.
You can avoid using it. You can dislike it - but llms are here to stay for good.
Eventually they will figure out a better technology, but home run models not going to go away.
They do empower people who are not tech savvy to do things - and to make things nobody would ever paid a professional to do or make.
Some of that is obvious slop but there are things that deserve existing.
I know I will be in the minority - but I still believe AI has its place.
It should definitely not replace pictures taken of food items - but it can do a light retouch job on the pic.
Couple days ago I saw a post about putting solar panels over canals to reduce evaporation.
I feel like I know what the next news gonna be about urban canals...
I mean now they force a lot of pregnancies to go through ... And they will just make it more likely for the baby to die?
I feel some moral dilemma somewhere.

There is always a switchbot.
It literally presses or releases a button at given times. You program it with BT and no wifi needed.

LLMs - current AI isn't going anywhere.
Home run models are going to stay even when big companies fold over the resource demand.

Make a MetaMask wallet and ask for crypto dust? Just keep your seed phrase safe.
But with that who could keep the poor afraid of getting medical care!?
They might even stop going and donating to church!

Probably not the answer, but there is a wholesome game fest thing on steam.
On my end I'm knocking out chores and finishing up craft projects, reducing the UFO piles.
