I hate the idea of bending backwards just to fully accomodate whims of other people

Care to give an example when you have ever really needed to bend over backwards?

You can absolutelly put it on to spreadsheet. Its just that its not a metric companies calculate normally.

I recommend everybody who is training new employees to track the time the training really takes, how much it takes away from your normal work effiency and how long it takes until newbies are ready to work shift solo. Do it enough times and you get average for new employers and you can calculate real life cost for new hires.

Then compare that to numbers the experienced guy would get during that time and how much money the employees training newbies would make. You get clear monetary difference between training new vs. keeping the old. If the experienced guy is competent they will always get better numbers on short term.

Then calculate median time people work in that position.

Now you can show a number that says: Hey, fire this guy and on average you loose this amount of money for new hire and if you want new employee who stays in the house as long as this guy you are firing has stayed, you need to go trough the training process this many times on average.

Without patent protection it would be impossible to bring anything new on the market unless you were allready one of the big companies.

Expertise, brand, speed, know-how, first-mover position, customer trust etc. are wothless if multinational mega conglomerate can just copy your homework and use their wealth to quickly massproduce your thing and spread it to every market of the world.

Thank you!

I also find it strange how easily everybody just abandoned their traditions and started to support Black Panther.

Killmonger was the legitimate heir both because of his lineage and because of the right of combat

I mean if there was an impartial historian writing about what happened, they would write Black Panther took the power back by an coup.

Largest market chain where i live is run like this.

A consumer cooperative (or customer-owned cooperative).

Its a business owned directly by its customers, who usually become members by paying a small membership fee. Profits are returned to members as bonuses, discounts, or dividends, and major decisions are made democratically, but there is the normal corporate hierarcy running the day to day operations.

You are right, but its not like we use the word that much anymore. With quick look i did not find any restaurant near me selling nakkisämpylä. Only hot dogs or one grill with hodari.

Same with the stores. Only hot dogs and hot dog sämpylä.

Guess my view is little unreasonable. I mean building something new and expect it to work is demanding awful lot.

But stopping with the snark. Africa has it problems with countries weaponizing cellphone and internet connections and that would not be solved even if every tower had its own nuclear reactor powering them.

You say it would take a volcano eruption to cloud the sky. Intense Sahara dust events can lower the PV output and the soil landing on the panels can make them useless. Cleaning these panels is laborius and uses water that can be hard to get in some areas. These are happening more frequently as climate change is doing its thing. There has been studies showing solar energy drop up to 50% as far as Greece because of the sand in atmosphere.

I think using solar for powering those towers is a great. I just dont see logic behind building a system that can with a bad luck just stop working, when you could instead build some failsafe option.
