And when you put „left wing“ in quotes you seem to acknowledge that there are different understandings of left in Germany as there are in other countries. And it depends on which one you look at, how much of a problem that is in the specific group.
BILD being the best selling „newspaper“ mostly depends on two things:
a) it’s one of the few publications sold nationwide.
b) It’s not really a newspaper. It is and always has been a right wing outlet spewing bigotry, hatred and misinformation.
And that is something that sadly sells well throughout all the remaining liberal democracies.
And it’s festering in Germany as well, our local right wing extremists currently reaching close to 30% in polls. But that still leaves 70% who are not fully gone yet. And I hope you‘ll meet more of them in the future.

It is touching that you try to be there for your partner even though they‘ve had a relapse.
Firstly I want to encourage you to look out for yourself. You are their partner not their therapist. And it’s better for you both if it stays that way. Of course you can help them if you can but this is still something they have to manage themselves with the help of professionals. Especially so when you write that they get angry under the influence.
But then, addiction is a chronic disease and relapses are a part of it. It’s important what they think about it once they are sober again. And it’s good that you’ve set boundaries to keep you safe. You should tell them again what your boundaries are once they’re sober again, maybe encourage them to seek help, tell them you’re there for them as a partner but that you can’t fix and their addiction and can’t tolerate them consuming.
It is good for them to see your anger and your love. I hope they and you will see through this!

Dazu kommt ja noch, dass wir in der Breite der Deutschen Bürokratie von Menschen, die so zwischen 35K und 70K im Jahr verdienen, recht erfolgreich erwarten, nicht korrumpierbar zu sein.
Ich nehme an, jemand der:die mit 200K im Jahr korrupt ist, wäre das mit 500K im Jahr immer noch.
Grundsätzlich finde ich ja, dass Staatsbedienstete gut bezahlt werden sollten. Aber jetzt mal ehrlich, fast 200KEUR sind doch gut, oder? Was fehlt einem da denn noch? Aber bei der Grundsicherung müssen wir sparen!
Und jetzt bitte keine Vergleiche mit Toppositionen in der Wirtschaft. Die werden auch zu gut bezahlt.
Yes! I have (or rather now my child has) a very old Sony e-reader, a different but equally clunky one. It still works fine, the display is just as good as my kindle device minus the backlight and even the battery is still OK and lasts for several days of activity.
And for a while now, I use my kindle the same way as the Sony, buying my content elsewhere and just transferring it to the reader.
