The way I solve this problem is to use nnn instead of ls. It's a full file manager for the terminal but so light and quickly started that it's as convenient as ls (a lot more so actually). You can navigate around your file system with vim-like key bindings and then have the option to exit either to the directory you started from or the one currently displayed.

As others have said, using UTC is the most reliable solution to communicating times across time zones. Everyone only needs to know their own offset (which might change twice a year if their location uses DST). A handy way to mark times as UTC is to attach a “Z” as in 20:00Z, which is part of the international standard covering dates and times ISO 8601.

Babylon 5 — just the perfect scifi show for me with a five-season story arc that was planned from the beginning.

Others: Farscape, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dark, The West Wing, Community, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

The other kid-friendly animation shows besides Avatar that I can recommend are The Owl House and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer could be a good pick or she might be a bit young for it (it's rated TV-14).

It should probably be a book the reading of which would be most beneficial to everyone. That’s a high bar pointing to some form of practical philosophy. I’d go with an introduction to Buddhism, something like What the Buddha Taught by Walpola Rahula though perhaps there are others better suited for a general audience.

I’m a big fan of Fate but I wouldn’t try it with a big group of players who are unfamiliar with it. It’s not a crunchy system but not really rules-light either and needs a very different approach than most traditional games; e.g. if the players aren’t used to self-compels, you’ll have your hands full remembering all the PCs’ aspects and trying to keep them in play so the players regularly get Fate Points.

Owning firearms in Germany isn’t really that difficult although you must invest considerably more time and money than in countries like the US. Legally carrying them in public is a whole other story. Unless you work as something like a judge or prosecutor or have some serious death threats against you, the chance of getting a license approved is extremely low.

Germany at a secondary school, grades 5–13:

  • from grade 5: Latin (at least 6 years)
  • from grade 7: English (at least 4 years)
  • from grade 9: French or Ancient Greek (optional)
  • from grade 11: Spanish or Italian or Hebrew (optional)

That was about 20 years ago and learning Latin, let alone Ancient Greek, had become the exception even then.

I’d say the problem with season 2 is that they just had too much plot. I assume they learned that they wouldn’t get a third season and tried to cram two seasons worth of plot into one. It's still phenomenal and I recommend to watch it but it suffers from its fast pacing that leaves little room for the characters to breathe and some side plots underdeveloped.

Calling Arcane “pleasant enough” is wild. Personally, I rank it as one of the best shows of all time, not just animation. The second season suffers a bit from wanting to do too much in too little time but it's still incredible nonetheless.

(I still have to watch Pantheon. I keep forgetting about it.)
