I've had enough of the dumpster fire happening in the US. It's leeching into every aspect of our lives, and we're not US citizens, we have no power to influence change. Trump, Big Tech, and his republican base are trying their damnedest to fuck over anything that moves.
This is a good start, but I'd like to see a industry-standard reporting structure & enforce auditing by a non-affiliated third party.
It doesn't go into detail regarding energy & water sources for their data centres, the construction & impact of those data centres (if applicable), nor how they're looking to reduce their environmental footprint. In fact, it clearly states their impact grows the larger the model gets (so their impact is only going to get worse), and their primary method of reduction was user education.
They've provided no reduction goals for themselves, which could include seeking renewable energy sources, water reduction, software optimisation, etc etc. They've also not mentioned their obsolescence planning - what impact equipment life cycling will incur, or how they're planning to reduce those impacts (e.g. disposal, frequency, etc).
The report downplays the generation costs, comparing it to a radish & video streaming. It omits the average tokens consumed per request, and should be sharing individual statistics for both text, image, video, and audio generation categories. These should be compared against industry standards (both AI & Non-AI).
This is also nearly a year old; are they going to be issuing a new report in July? The frequency of the reports should be mandated annual.
Their current report is nothing more than a puff piece to say they're "environmentally conscious" and "transparent", without actually being transparent.
If they're anything like my company's executive team, they're using AI to make their decisions too. They're being spoonfed the issue isn't AI underperforming, it's you.

I'm a massive fan of saucy dishes, but an Indian seems to hit different. It's the mix of it being a slightly thicker & creamy sauce marinated with the chicken, blended with all the spices, and a slight burning (but not painful) sensation you experience eating it.
I like Chinese takeaways too, but I'd always prefer an Indian if given the option.

The entire industry is purposely blurring the line between AI just generating text vs it becoming the fountain of knowledge / general intelligence. It's becoming common hearing "Well ChatGPT says X" in discussions, and people generally finding it difficult to believe ChatGPT is wrong dispute the tiny warning banner at the bottom. There are people having active romantic relationships with LLMs because they believe it's sentient.
OpenAI should have implemented safeguards. The fact it was actively fed & escalated his delusions is a significant contributing factor -- it told him he's a target & under threat. It could be argued without those escalations, it wouldn't have driven him to commit murder.
I would be extremely uncomfortable seeing my face in adverts, even for products I use. I'm already uncomfortable with adverts using personal recommendations based on tracking my web history & habits.
I actively avoid those products in the future, and I can only see this alienating their marketing base further.
They just see an advertisement board mirroring their own racist thought process, and think how it must now be socially acceptable to spew their hatred around.
