It kills the animation last I checked (a week ago). WebP animations work, even though they are restrictivr in quality. So for videos I convert a WebP preview and attach the source video.
In theory college processors are as much researchers as teachers, many moreso. That said if students want to waste the money they're paying by distracting themselves from the learning, the grades will likely reflect that. If I was teaching at college level, I would take solace in that
Another user had mentioned they were blocked from seeing them by a cloudflare verification which seems to be a DDOS/bot protection service. Voyager is what I'm using to upload them and it seems to make it difficult to see for certain users from what I can surmise. Can you try opening the base post URL in browser and see if it's cloudflare blocking you? I can see ALL the posts but I submitted them
Slow to load? They're very large most times as I pick the highest resolution available. I do use catbox for some posts (animated) but from what I could tell it reuploads the post body to lemmy at some point
All my posts are made using the Voyager app's "submit link" option. I use the direct link to a source image on Danbooru with a link to the page in the body of the post. I'm not sure if the app actually rehosts during this process but I was under the impression it did. I don't know a solution if that is the case but I'm open to suggestions.
