I purposefully made my example not function to demonstrate how it's constructed. If done without the quotation marks, and the ::: spoiler is on its own line, it should work and show up in your app.

::: spoiler Spoiler Test! (Click me)

Ultra sneaksies textings be here >.>

:::

Here's what it looks like before posting on my end:

To do a spoiler tag write "::: spoiler This Is My Spoiler Title" on its own line (don't include the quotation marks)

Then put the text you want to hide below it, separated by white space (enter key pressed twice).

Then end the spoiler with another 3 colons, again separated by white space.

:::

And it should work :)

Unfortunately It appears that some strange issues have cropped up with the new AI scraper countermeasures recently implemented :(

poVoq is trying his best to resolve it, but it's a bit of a brain twister to troubleshoot, from what I gather.

Whether or not a poster considers themselves racist is irrelevant from the perspective of the moderator. Their job is to keep racist material from being submitted to their communities, and if someone is unwilling to adjust their perception of that content even if the community tries to inform them why it's not welcome to post it here, that is the user's problem, not the moderator. If they get a perma ban from that community, they still can post elsewhere with the knowledge that that type of content isn't popular here and choose whether or not to keep posting it.

If they still refuse to reevaluate that type of content, keep getting reports on their content, and an admin instance bans them, then at worst they'll have to make a new account on a different instance. throughout all of those steps the user has the opportunity to try to understand on their end why their posts are getting this negative reaction. If they decide that everyone else is wrong and continue posting things that are perceived as racist, then that's on them. 🤷

Yes, the Zuckerberg thing was racist, but it’s also what I’d consider an example of some of the tamest and most common racist jokes. It’s very common to hear from people of all skin tones, and before the last 10 years or so it was extremely common. Most people I know would just roll their eyes at it

Doing apologia for racist material, and wanting moderators to go real easy on people who post it is an odd stance to take, and not one I agree with.

The user was temp banned for racist material, complains about it being called racist, other users explain why it's racist, and they dismiss their explanations entirely. If they are not willing to acknowledge that it's racist, they're likely to post more racist things that they think isn't racist. From a moderator's perspective, that's not someone you want in your community, as your users don't want racist stuff showing up their feed.

The user was shown why their stuff was racist, it's now on them to learn from that experience, or not. If they don't, they're going to keep getting banned if they keep posting that content. It's not terribly relevant to a moderator that a particular user is incapable of understanding their content is racist even ever being informed of it.

Notice that the user who received the temp ban went on to complain about it, and even after other users explained why the memes were racist (including the zuckerberg post that you also agree is racist), the user dismisses the racism entirely and just says "not arguing everyone has to like the memes." They are showing zero ability for self-reflection and refuse to acknowledge the memes were racist.

I still would've given a permaban based on the evidence at hand, were it my community. You can disagree with that and give them more and more chances, but posting one blatant racist meme which is indisputably racist (even you agree), shows that we're not working with some innocent lamb who just isn't keeping up with modern dog-whistles.

If someone had only posted the LOTR meme without that previous history, then I would give benefit of the doubt, and just remove it and explain why.

It truly is, and learning that virtually every DE is also using it was a wake-up call for me of how deeply this has infiltrated FLOSS projects (I would've assumed they would be less apt to jump on the band-wagon, especially after the environmental and ethical concerns became apparent, but... Most don't seem to care too much, if at all about that).

Especially disheartening that the kernel is turning such a blind eye to all this and ignoring you. They seem to be setting an example for other FLOSS projects to follow. I feel like it'll continue until some of them get slapped with serious infringement cases, then maybe that'll cause at least some to take action against LLMs.

Strange, how is it that you can see the posts that were deleted?

I assume I can still access them due to being an instance admin, that's how I know what they were.

What’s racist about that?

I explained how that imagery is used by racists, and the previous racist meme is a good indicator it was posted with racist intent.

Notice that there's 2 posts that were removed for racism. The other one was posted 15 days prior, and was an image of a black mark zuckerburg with a comment below it implying that that was the version who steals data, which is clearly a racist post. The moderator who removed it added the comment "Next racist post gets a perma-ban".

The post with the Cueta post that got them banned had the post title of 'Cueta right now', but was an image of an invasion from Lord of The Rings, equating the Cueta migrants as essentially a 'barbarian horde', which has traditionally been used by right-wing media as a racist scare tactic to make their viewers see non-white migrants as evil hordes who are 'invading' their country.

Both memes were clearly very racist, but despite that, they only received a temporary 1-week ban (I would've given a permanent ban for such blatant racism, myself).

An update on the different DE's stance on AI:

  • LXQt won't ban AI, and will allow code contributions.
  • MATE's Contributing.md on github explicitly allows AI contributions that are marked as AI.
  • Budgie has Claude submissions right in their github.
  • KDE's team is divided somewhat, but ultimately accept AI code.
  • Gnome allows AI code on most of their projects.

That leaves Cinnamon and Cosmic, both of which are currently unknown on their stance. If they turn out to both be pro-AI, that would mean most major DE's are pro-AI, leaving us with the Window Managers to investigate like i3, Qtile, etc.

Edit: I see Qtile has claude contributions already so... Egh...

Edit 2: Cosmic accepts LLM contributions.

Not looking good. At this point I'm guessing Cinnamon will as well.

Also update regarding the MATE desktop, I found in their Contributing text that they are following the Linux Kernel's lead on accepting LLM code, with only a requirement to tag it as being AI-assisted.

AI-assisted code receives no special treatment compared to human code. If disclosing AI assistance, use the Assisted-by format adopted by the Linux kernel guidelines. Do not use Co-Authored-By with AI tool accounts or vendor emails, as it pollutes the commit history.

So they're off the table as well :\

The Labwc wayland compositor (which MATE uses for wayland support), has similar guidelines in its Contributing file.

No anacharchist society could ever survive being in competition with a legitimate nation state with mordern weapons.

An anarchist society would need manufacturing capability to create weapons that would be effective against the enemies they faced (much like Ukraine's local drone construction is essential to their survival). That was an issue in the Spanish Civil war, especially as no outside countries were willing to help logistically except for the USSR, which had strings attached, and was mostly diverted to the Stalinist faction.

These two concepts are so incredibley far removed from each other

I don't believe they are. Rojava modeled its society on Democratic Confederalism as laid out by Abdullah Öcalan. Abdullah himself was heavily inspired by the works of Murray Bookchin, who advocated for a form of Eco-Anarchism, which Solarpunk itself is partly based upon.

I am not saying that Rojava is a solarpunk society, it is not, it's also not considered properly Anarchist by most Anarchists, but it is currently an existing society that at least is attempting to decentralize societal power in a meaningful way (to varying degrees of success), similar to the Zapatistas.

Also to be clear, my reference to Rojava in my previous comment about Community Defense related to how they had replaced law-enforcement, the primary subject of this thread.

Solarpunk and its Anarchist ideals are a pretty direct threat to virtually every other societal system. Fascists, Capitalists, and Authoritarians all either see it as an enemy to starve out, or even directly attack in an attempt to prevent its spread, as was seen during the Russian Revolution with Makhno's Black Army, and the Spanish Civil War.

As long as there are still state governments with military might at their disposal, a Solarpunk society is likely going to need to be able to defend itself against them. The Anarchists of Spain organized their voluntary militias from the bottom up, where the soldiers themselves would elect someone to lead the group (but with the ability to immediately recall them outside of battle if they didn't perform their duties to the satisfaction of the soldiers who elected them), and those elected leaders would then elect a commander to help organize them more effectively, with the same recall rules applied. It seemed to work out quite well for them.

However, there may be a point in time where the advantages of the alternative solarpunk system are too apparent to ignore, which could spark mass-civil disobediance or even revolution in those other countries causing their governments and capitalist economies to collapse, hopefully then leading to them joining in with their own solarpunk movements. Were that to eventually happen the world over, the need for militias to exists would likely dwindle.
