That one episode broke me for days like no other show has ever done, its why Violet Evergarden is my #1 show.... That I will never rewatch.

For context, I was going through the same thing IRL as the characters in the episode were, so it hit all too close to home.

Worth noting so long as you have your SIM and can receive text messages, you can recover your google account, and log in with just username and password. Which gets you into all the 2FA stuff if you use google authenticator. One of the lessons I learned there is just how insecure all that is. Even though it made recovery possible for me, it means its not secure at all, and I need to revise my approach and unlink things.

I was on travel thousands of km from home, with no backups and all digital tickets. Lessons were learned, but I made it through in the end thanks to some very helpful folks along the way.

Remembering security layers to get my eSIM back was the most challenging step, and once the phone number was back I could recover the rest with ease, worth noting for any with a physical Sim, recovery is much easier, but that applies to the agents who steal your phone too.

Having uh, accidentally entered my duress pin a week or so ago I'll tell you now it works: Enter pin as normal, device starts to unlock, pin pad fades back then the device hangs for a few moments and reboots. Then it rebots to a menu that states the boot image is corrupted and your only option is a factory reset.

Point being is that it looks normal, unless you know what happened it could have been a memory issue and the phone just died. The GOS boot graphics give the game up though, I wish they'd change that especially with more scrutiny every day against devices running it.

Not that it matters much since I think your math here checks out - but the framework desktop is all soldered memory, so no slots for memory needed. Likely some higher density chips used here than a 64GB DIMM stick. Point being, your estimate may still be optimistic!

Still don't know why the company who prides itself on reparability and upgradibility even released a unit with unrepairable components, even given their latency justification.

For those who did have theirs delivered, was a signature on delivery required?

Ive got a porch pirate problem, and can't guarantee I'll be there day of, and steam FAQ doesn't cover that bit. If it doesn't, then I know I just need to pay the carrier to hold it a few days.

When I try to read it, I can't parse it as anything other than a "p" or "b" so its not so much making me actively read as it is utterly confusing. Is that a me issue? Sure, but i've seen other comments to that same effect in the past too.

So I don't see it as a fun reading excersize, there's plenty of that already without adding strange characters to the mix here.

No, nothing to do with piefed. I did read that at one point there was actually a hard code to turn that symbol back to normal text, but that's hearsay, as if it exists its not enabled. Said user is manually typing it in in this case

They claim its to poison AI models, but its been repeatedly proven to them that it doesn't work. They also claim to want to bring back older English symbols like this too, not only has it been pointed out they're using it wrong many times, but in my case and some others, it just makes their comments an illegible mess. Ultimately they're just one of those edgy Lemmy personalities.

That's Yuki, a ringed seal at the Osaka Aquarium. Known to take this squished sea potato pose, so they sell plushies of that at the aquarium, which is what's in the post.

Just like to draw your attention back to this topic as underpantsweevil beep has now spooled up multiple alts (both under beep, boop, and keep nicknames) to avoid their lemmus ban, and has continued the same behavior as before.

Edit: I see that the moderation on the community was updated hours ago, so its been resolved for the moment.

Hate on cars all you want, and the idiocy that accompanies them, but please don't encourage setting things on fire in California, especially as they start to enter fire season. That's a good way to end up with massive, out of control fires that do billions in damage.

Just call a towtruck. They'll have a field day here.
