I'm in the same position as you. I'm stuck with nova. I have it firewalled so it doesn't have network access but I would love to love over to a Foss alternative. Nothing I've tried is as customisable and I can't seem to get things exactly how I like them. neo was close :(
What phone should I buy to still have access to open source software? I know the obvious answer is a pixel for graphene OS but those phones do not have expandable storage which is a deal breaker for me.. What other alternative is there?
Yeah I guess so. I don't have a phone that can run graphene or any other privacy OS so I'm running a sort of "hardened" stock android os 🤣 I just want a random google account to download a couple of apps that require play services in order to function

I've used adguard for a while and I think it can either filter using VPN or with root.
Run your own. Doesn't require internet connection. Try downloading a model like gemma 4 and run it on android with pocket pal
