You might not expect this nor believe in it, and will probably mock me for it, but honestly, giving up gluten and dairy did it for me. Well, I am back on them now and guts not as good again and I can clearly see the mental effects.
But that's probably just me, not eveyone has a gluten intolerance. But like, I wouldn't have believed I have one, because I had a gastroscopy that actually biopsied the small intestine like almost 20 years ago (because of me always feeling sort of guilty in my stomach but it wasn't because I had done anything bad, the emotion was just a projection and the feeling was due to a food intolerance.) That and all sorts of allergy and antigen tests.
But then I tried and exclusion diet, where I only ate fish, chicken, rice and potatoes. Slowly added things like onions and garlic (to see whether their allergens is the trigger).
I don't get violent reactions from eating gluten and dairy but it stacks and I just become sadder and more anxious in general.
Hell, before going on that diet I had never really been able to get properly drunk either. I never really lost my memories of a night or acted as stupid as my peers, and I could never figure out why they get so drunk and I don't.
Now I don't need to wonder.
But yeah I'm not saying neither of you have that, but undiagnosed food allergies could possibly contribute.
