I get that Amazon strayed from the source material for Rings of Power buuuuut didn't they also not have the rights to the source material? It doesn't make it any better for the fans but I can see why it would be that way. They should have just not made it instead of being the douche canoes that they are and going the ol cash grab route they love so much.
But for Wheel of Time they had the rights to the source material. They had access to Brandon Sanderson for guidance. They had it all and all they had to do was make a best effort attempt at a like for like adaptation. Instead, the hubris of those ass clowns caused it to be one of the worse adaptations I have ever witnessed. Those jerkoffs decided they were going to make a better story themselves and just use the same character names.
The only good way I have seen it being described to lessen the pain is that the show is a different turning of the wheel and has nothing to do with the story in the books. Maybe we'll get a better adaptation twenty years from now? I never thought I would look back at that terrible Red Eagle version "Winter Dragon" as the best live action variant...

I've read through that series so many times and knew no one would be able to translate it to a live action format. I didn't think they would throw the baby out with the bathwater, though. Just absolutely unwatchable in any way.
I keep getting this eerie feeling that this idea has been floated by officers themselves so they have a reason to be even more aggressive to anyone wearing a mask on Halloween. Which, of course, will be a ton of people so that's right up their alley.
I could just be reading too much into things and be completely wrong.

I must have watched that movie a dozen times when I was younger and absolutely loved it. Just goes to show that not every movie needs a director's cut.
I feel like there is a lot to unpack here but I'll try and field things I feel like I have a useful opinion on.
First, the root problem you have brought up in "what are they looking for" or "how to hold a conversation with a woman". In my experience, they want the same thing you want. If you like laughing and being weird/silly then the woman you're looking for matches that. If you prefer dry humor and lean more to a serious nature then the woman you're looking for will want that. Essentially, be yourself and the other shit falls away. I'm old (or consider myself to be old) and can remember a slew of women that things never ended up clicking with that I thought were the smartest, funniest, most beautiful, fun to be around types and if they would just give me a chance we'd be so happy yada yada yada. Thing is, in the end, they weren't what would have worked out for me.
I didn't meet my wife until I was thirty. The woman I dated and married made every woman I met before her seem drab and boring. Those women weren't actually drab and boring they just wouldn't have clicked the way my wife and I did. There was no weird stress about keeping the conversation up or if she found me interesting. Those things just organically happened. If you're dwelling on that with someone you hope to date be it male, female, or others then maybe that person isn't what will work for you? Why waste time trying to make something work that won't?
Let's think of this in reverse for arguments sake. Would you be happy with a woman that changed who she was just to get your attention because she was smitten with you? Would you be happy months or years down the line when you find out this person doesn't actually enjoy the same things you do and is no longer fun to be around? Changing yourself to get a person's attention will not work out well.
Be yourself. Enjoy the things you enjoy and invite others to enjoy them with you. You don't have to work at a conversation on a topic you're really into and in the long run the person you want to spend your life with will be just as enthusiastic about it.

I've beat the game every way possible and absolutely loved it. I know the couple that you're talking about but can't remember much else about them to be honest.
As far as the Embers quest goes, feel free to do it whenever you want. Once you beat the game it spits you right back out in front of Embers so you can continue doing all the other stuff. You also get to keep all the cool stuff that you got doing the end game.
