I’ve used lemmy_migrate in the past and it’s good for one-way copy. I’ve also seen lasim, but I haven’t tried it. You may find other options on awesome-lemmy.
I've looked at it a few times, but I've never got around to setting it up. I think my first try would be with Nextcloud, then moving to a dedicated server if that proves too slow or unreliable. Has it been much maintenance for you, or mostly fire-and-forget?

Are such third-party devices trustworthy? A few months ago it turned out that a lot of Android set top boxes that you can buy on Amazon come with pre-installed spyware that you can't remove. Wouldn't the same be a risk here?
But why would you need to disable mobile data when you enable WiFi? WiFi is automatically preferred, so having the mobile data toggle on or off doesn't matter while connected to WiFi.
Firefox and Vivaldi. Both have ad blockers and bottom address bar. With Firefox I use some additional add-ons, like Consent-o-Matic, but the Vivaldi interface is nicer and very customizable. I also use the DDG browser for occasional searches.
CarPlay and Android Auto actually work well, and you can use the apps that you already have on your phone. The screens are generally more convenient and restrict view less than a phone holder stuck to the window. But without those, I agree that I'd rather have no screen than one with crappy media controls and the car's own navigation.

I've only ever tried the fork. I'll try leaving it running more to see if anything changes, but I don't have a good way to pinpoint battery hogs...
