That would be a pity if they burned that long, but it comes with the area. Right now we are outside the readiness / evac zones. The air is very, very bad. Just watching it unfold. If anything, it has really reinforced our decision to move is how well the state and local agencies handle natural events that impact the residents. They are organized, they have a plan, and they have the funds and equipment to do what is necessary. The opposite of Kentucky. Same goes for the ability to handle the snow in winter. They make it a non-issue really. I'll pay a few bucks more in taxes to live in a state that invests in itself and its natural areas. (We have done the math and at the end of the year we really did not pay that much more if at all)

I keep thinking back to to the tweens when crypto miners would infect computers. IMO same strategy. Why buy the compute (Data Centers) when you can crowdsource it?

I used to respect this guy but a ways back he started giving me the ick. Way worse now... Curtis Stone . I blocked his channel a ways back, but checked to see if current events changed his tune. It didn't. I am an American and I cannot fathom why anyone would want to join our insanity.

Ex-Catholic here, so I am watching from the sidelines.
As the current Pope is in ill health I have been wondering what the outcome will be when he passes. I think who they choose for the next Pope will be very telling with the current state of the world. Pope Francis was not popular with the conservative side of the church. With far right extremism on the rise world wide I am guessing the church is going to lean into it and we are going to see an ultra conservative Pope that will serve far right power structures. That being said I have little faith in the church to do the right thing so my opinion is skewed.
