@AYMusicBot@retrochat.online I know this is a reply to a bot but back in the late 80s, this was a combination of two of my favourite things, my ZX Spectrum and Back to the Future.
Shame that the combination didn't really work out...
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games The Saturn never made an impression on me growing up. I never knew anyone who had one and in my head, it's the poor Playstation. (I know that's not true but it's the memories of friends and magazines of the time.) I have this nugget of information that it was actually a very impressive machine but very hard to program.
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games I had a cover CD (maybe DVD?) from somewhere that was filled with E3 videos. One was a MGS promo that run for ten minutes or so. I used to watch it obsessively, I thought the game looked amazing and was sad I didn't have a PS1.
I eventually got my own copy when it came to GameCube and that was a very nice port, really well done.
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games and if course, here in the UK we got the better name of Lylat Wars. 🤮 But that was on the box, everyone else just called it Starwing. 😄
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games Did you know they were porting Doom to the 3DO. It was going to have FMV cut scenes telling a story. There have been several pictures of these videos circulating but the actual videos have never appeared.
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games that was another great one. A friend had the Jaguar, so I played on it quite a bit. He got quite a lot of games, including the bad ones and even the cdrom add-on as well.
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games The Wii version is essentially the same game but because the machine isn't as powerful, it has cartoon style caricature graphics. It works really well.
It's also a little bit more immersive throwing the wiimote around as well. 😄
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games oooh Ghostbusters. Bought that day one for my Xbox360. Considering GB content was thin on the ground back then, this was essentially a third film. Loved it too bits.
I have a copy now for my PS3 which my youngest son has enjoyed playing.
@innkeeper@gamerstavern.online There were a few games I really enjoyed playing on the switch but I never used it as much as I hoped I would.
As you say, if you're not into the Nintendo fan base (Mario, etc) or Japanese RPGs, it gets boring fairly quickly.
So much shovelware as well.
There were some amazing ports that I was surprised the Switch could even do such as Doom and Alien: Isolation but my grey lite spent more time in a draw than out.
@innkeeper I had to check but yes. I think I played them on PS4 over the years as each one was given away free as monthly PSN games.
@innkeeper I really enjoyed that reboot and the next one. However, I lost interest in number three about halfway through.
I may go back one day, especially if they're all SteamDeck-able.
@innkeeper@gamerstavern.online I remember watching the videos about the original Mass Effect while waiting for it to arrive on Xbox360.
However, when I played the demo, I wasn't impressed and the game felt rather clunky. Load times were horrendous as well.

@innkeeper @the_gamer_tavern I started this many years ago but the amount of options overwhelmed me.
I really wished they released a PS5 patch just to boost the frame rate a bit.
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games I knew nothing of the StarCraft franchise but this one looked really good. I was bummed out when it was cancelled.
Being a GameCube owner wasn't always a fun time.

@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games Isn't Contra the game with the stolen Predator poster artwork? They just changed his head.

@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games Is that the game which was never released until the mini SNES?

@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games The sole reason I wanted that console!
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games I bought this one. I'm not a die hard Trekkie but I like the show and this is a really good game.
I think there's a fan community that has kept it going all these years.

@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games Was it not pre installed?
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games my youngest son loves the free Astro Bot but it's strangely not interested in getting this new sequel.
