autistic people (I am one) suck at social cues. We're very weak on that level of thinking. It's kinda what autism is. So I cut autistic people a lot of slack for fucking up social awareness. Neurotypicals should have been able to spot him as a predator long before autistic people would catch it. Hence the extra slack I cut Terry. He did his best.
Terry was autistic as fuck and I can forgive him a failure to spot a monster (who had already snowed, apparently, the entire British intelligentsia). It was one book and he never defended Gaiman again, so I'm willing to look past this one.
My take, and far as I know it's unique to me, is that Jesus existed, probably did some preaching, and was crucified. There were a lot of streetcorner ranters back then and the Romans did crucify a lot of people. And they were halfway decent about keeping records.
The Jesus we know is a fiction created by the Romans to pacify the Jews. The Jews made shitty slaves but were awaiting a messiah so the Romans gave them one, but made him a wimp. A slave god. Be a good slave and you'll get a nice reward for it after you die. It would have worked, too, except the Romans didn't understand Jungian psychology. They didn't realize what a shadow self they were creating by insisting people emulate an archetype of pure empathy.
Basically, I see Christianity as the result of social engineering from a couple millennia ago, and its worldwide dominance is due to its accidentally militaristic nature.
Want to really see the fur fly? Try banning genital mutilation. There is no defensible logic for chopping up a baby's genitals even if your god told you to do so. That's some barbaric, bronze age shit that should in no way be legal in any nation that wants to call itself "civilized". It's as logical as slicing a baby's eyelids off at birth. Without anesthesia, I might add.
I live in the US and, frankly, you're helpless against a SWAT sniper, let alone a drone. That's not how you keep your freedoms.
MLK showed how it's done, although I do expect to see fighting around this election.
A vest/gas mask would be a good purchase, but a combination of too expensive and uncomfortable.
Edit: And, yeah, they're just now becoming able to see how shock waves travel through your brain and tear up all kinds of those axon/dendrite connections.
