My guess: Demetrius Desmond was the shadowy figure outside the window, and this building was the one used in the past for experiments on POWs in the war, so that's why Anya had a reaction to it being "evil".

I don't remember the last time it showed him in the manga. There wasn't anything strange, right? I wonder if it's to do with Anya or them going into the "haunted" building.

You worded my reasoning for Clair Obscur much better than I could have.

OP: I loved Clair Obscur and highly recommend it. The story and gameplay is just so engaging, and it honestly might be the most beautiful game I've ever played in both art and soundtrack.
