I'm starting to wonder if this is the reason Trump et al have had so little to say about the movement. Maybe they were counting on it imploding at some point. Who knows if they had info we don't.

After having combed through all the relevant posts and comments, including deleted ones, it is clear to me that this was a power grab.

Whether or not it was done with the best interests of 50501 in mind remains to be seen. My read on the situation doesn't have high hopes for that. Now would be the time to refocus on the local level. We are supposed to be decentralized; this movement is more than the couple of asshats at the top.

I've taken the liberty of backing up all relevant posts involving Evolved_Fungi using screenshots and reddit backup sites.

Without making another post that gets too far into the weeds: I'd recommend everyone be very cautious regarding any PACs claiming to represent 50501 on a national level in the near future. We are supposed to be decentralized, so any such maneuvers would need dramatic transparency, which I am not terribly hopeful for at this point in time. Donate LOCALLY first and foremost. The local level is the most actionable level for individuals. The goals of the movement haven't changed and never will change, regardless of who has the reins at the top. That's the beauty of a decentralized movement.

lol, nah nothing like that.

From my view, he favors capitalistic solutionism, throwing his stacks of cash around to crowd out local efforts, will, and doctors. Frequently in a way that furthers his own investments. He's the Walmart of international health. It's easy to garner support when you are pumping money into healthcare, even if you are ultimately propping up the same exploitative system that got us here in the first place. Sending money to places that need it does save lives, yes, but he could save a lot more if he cared to.

He's just laundering his reputation, imo.

B-b-b-but Decorum! They take the low road, we take the high! It worked so well last time!

It is starting to feel like Democratic voters are in an abusive relationship with Dem politicians. "I swear I'll be better this time."

I noticed Fox and friends doing a lot of this kind of shit. I think they realize that convincing people that "protester = Democrat" is a way to quickly take some of the wind out of the movement's sails.

They clearly aren't intending to let us get to the midterms, let alone the next presidential. They can sense the wind changing, and it isn't in their favor.

And yet the Dem leadership just continues being dickless cowards. We need more pressure, more protesters, more boycotting, more disruption NOW.

Worth mentioning here that the title seems to have lost an important detail in getting mirrored to Lemmy:

75% have no criminal record, or 179 individuals.

Edit to say: I'd also mention that the majority of those with a criminal record are for minor, non-violent offenses such as shoplifting and trespassing. Only about 12 (!) have any violence in their criminal record whatsoever, with some of those holding mere accusations of such.
