I feel like for the big studios, the game industry is very much like the auto industry. If they want to operate like this fine, but maybe do a scheduled furlough while they shut down the plant during slow times?

I’m not a fan of that model either, but at least it’s more honest than hiring somebody With the promise of a career and laying them off when the game is done.

Serious question - and this is coming from someone who’s used a handful from Bulma to Bootstrap to Foundation… all the way back to 960.gs - with today’s robust state of CSS, what is the advantage to a traditional framework in 2026? What’s the use case?

Valve isn't getting acquired any time soon. They're a small-ish group that basically gets 30% of nearly every PC game sold. They're private, so finances aren't published, but I have a hunch they have a healthy amount of cash on hand to do whatever the fuck they want for decades, and they might in fact be closer to the size of those mega corps.

Fair. It’s nothing special, just a quick lazy print with some acrylic markers for the nacelles. I wanted to see how it would turn out, wasn’t going for display quality, but for a toy around the house I’m happy with how it turned out. Lego figure for scale. It’s a little smaller than the Ent D - maybe $3 of material?
