Is there any easy way that I’m missing to sub to all of the hexbear communities from my lemmygrad account ? Or is it as much of a pain as it seems to be
Also, the amount of foaming at the mouth in Canadian media over Israel is rapidly becoming ridiculous, I’ve seen them bloodthirsty before but this feels over the top
I would love to live somewhere like China, Vietnam or Cuba having spent some time in and experienced a bit of all three. Lovely countries with lovely people. That being said I feel like it’s my duty to hash it out in my home country of Canada. Unless stuff really goes to shit and I have to escape on asylum or something for my political views I want to do my best to try and contribute to improve things in my community.
For much of my life I’ve dreamed of moving away to almost anywhere else from the frozen backwater I call home but as I’ve gotten older I’m more invested in trying to get stuck in there and be involved in shit and contributing to positive change.
I’ve also always agreed that weed can be a “gateway drug”, but same is true for alcohol. I also agree drugs are fun and can be relatively not dangerous if used responsibly but I would never recommend to anyone to go out of their way to try drugs.
Drugs have been a significant part of some of the best experiences and memories of my life thus far but they have also brought me to very dark places more than once. I’ve seen a lot of lives get ruined by addiction. So I would hesitate to say they arent dangerous even if doing blow a half dozen times a year or MDMA once in a while is safe from a biological perspective, cuz you never know how a person will respond to such intense sensation.
Ever considered that maybe there are other perspectives on the issue and that people who disagree with you may have valid points and aren’t automatically idiots
I guess mostly just from searching for solutions to problems in the world. I grew up in an poor urban area and am extremely working class so I’ve seen a lot of suffering. I feel like I’ve also always been inclined to think of things in a dialectical manner even before I knew what that was, so Marxism-Leninism just naturally made the most sense to explain things.
I’d also specifically highlight the NATO invasion of Libya as rocking my world view, as it quickly became so incredibly obvious what the true nature of the “intervention” was and anyone paying attention would have to be blind not to have seen the contradictions as they unfolded.
It really depends, but definitely my ability to enjoy a lot of media/entertainment has declined in the past 4-5 years. I mainly watch sports for entertainment, specifically football/soccer, and for me that is something I am still able to approach mostly with sheer cognitive dissonance. I can still get excited about my club spending ÂŁ100m on a player despite the obvious ridiculousness of that.
All of the discussion lately over Saudi Arabia and the general eurocentrism of supporters especially the self righteous sort on r/soccer is incredibly annoying, but fortunately it’s easy enough to avoid that.
I definitely still enjoy movies as well for the most part, but I typically go see horror or comedy or whatever and not serious dramas or movies dripping with propaganda so it is easier.
One major thing I used to love and simply cannot appreciate at all anymore is the musical Hamilton. Such a fun well constructed musical but sheesh the content is chauvinistic and liberal.
I’m too old and angry to get into new types of social media this is why I’m on a text/markup based web forum.
Also I don’t care much to consume video content, never even got into youtube. Also I try to avoid platforms with algorithms/endless scrolling, just cant be good for me
It’s interesting to me how popular/mainstream anime seems to be these days. When I used to watch a ton of it like 15+ years ago it was super niche in north america, now I feel like it comes up in discussion all of the time with people I wouldnt expect to watch it.

That is a beautiful looking map
My heart goes out to the brave freedom fighters, this is a major step in the liberation of Palestine. I wish them all the best

This is strangely inspirational and uplifting to me despite the obvious tragedy of it.
Can’t believe I had to pay like $30 CAD to drive across Ohio. It wasn’t even a good turnpike.
Can’t tell if this year has sucked less than previous years or if I’m just getting numb to it now
Well they would be hard pressed to find many Ukrainian WW2 vets in this country who aren't nazis
This is easily the funniest thing I’ve seen all week, no one gives a fuck what he has to say lol

It costs so much money to do literally anything, so tired of it
Not even that old lol, only now getting into my latter 20s.

I gotta live in a city where I can walk to stuff and see people. Even my current city feels too small and its almost a million people
