There IS one person that inspect the code for everyone, that's the package maintainer. But it's a random voluntary contribution from some random person who you should not blindly trust. That's the point of the AUR, one person makes it significantly easier to install for everyone. The point is to be better than installing directly from somewhere like GitHub. I live just across the Canadian border (below just above the 45th parallel) and it's pretty bright at 10PM here also (that is around the summer solstice of course). So while the camera/software might have been boosting brightness, the difference in latitude still seems to make a big difference!

Yes but only sort of. The PRC as still ton of social inequalities, a ton of billionaires and many things I would consider basics in a socialist society like free education still are present. If anything they seem to keep getting more and more capitalist as time go on. I agree that the progress of China over the last few decades is still a huge win for socialism but I don't see the death of capitalism you seem to be suggesting any time soon
