Doing very poorly. But I won't get into any detail.

Does anyone know of any decent Japanese based tech reviewers I can listen to? Spanish? Irish?
I'm finding I don't know how well other languages are treated when it comes to new tech. For example the Steam Frame was announced today. I'm watching all the reviewer videos on it, but I don't know of any reviewers, if any, that were given the device outside of the US. And then when I apply that logic to other tech, then I'm wondering what review units are sent out first to who, in what language. And so I'm thinking there's of course biases to the languages based on newer tech, but I'm unsure to the extent.

So if anyone knows any decent Japanese/Spanish/Irish tech reviewers, I'm all ears.

The problem I also face is crippling social anxiety. I can manage with keyboard/messages okay, but when it comes to voice I'm for whatever reason absolutely terrified. So for instance if I did end up finding someone to talk to in Japanese or etc, I'd have to get to know them first through keyboard before I feel comfortable enough verbally talking to them. It's also always to do with calls. I'm fine for text and meetups, but calls/video calls. I'm very hesitant.
Absolutely daft, I know. But it's a hangup I have.

This also all being said, I do think the best course forward for me for now, at least vocalising plan wise, is to meet up with some people on some social services online like Discord or etc, maybe completely unrelated to languages, then maybe migrating to Discord Call or VRChat.

I do appreciate the suggestions, I just don't know how well I'd take to it with the fear and all. Also, always a joy to see your messages on here, but my instance keeps blocking your replies on the post so this is about the only time I can properly respond to you too, but just wanted to say that.

Taking things slowly still. Only doing 30 mins study on both Japanese and Spanish, but also started doing more immersion with my Japanese and Spanish at 30 mins bare minimum each too. Started working on my Irish again, doing 30 mins, but no immersion. Sometimes it's a lot longer though since a grammar video is 40 minutes and I still need to do flashcards and etc.

Someone recommended BuraBura Japanese, and been binging their videos. It's been really good craic. Spanish is Dreaming in Spanish, and then, as I said, Irish still not advanced enough to get the benefit out of immersion so still need to study for a good long time. Using Madra Teanga for my Irish, it's becoming a lot more fleshed out now so I added it to my dailies.

Realised despite all the efforts in languages, I can't actually do much output at all, so will need to try output practise at some point, but no idea where. Spanish with the GF I suppose, but Irish and Japanese? No idea.

A friend gave me a gift, and I guess it caused some mild OCD in me since I ended up being completely useless for a few days aftwards. Been bouncing back from that day. Already knocked down my entire Japanese vocab backlog, and restarted my Spanish Migaku cards (have about 200 more cards to review there).

Haven't touched Lojban/Irish in a bit either. I'm an an impasse for those though. On one hand Lojban is more of a personal goal, on the other hand I feel a lot more connected to the Irish language due to my heritage and etc. No one to speak with in either of these langauges, so it's making it hard to decide. Feeling more of an incline towards Irish just for the more apparent cultural/historical background behind it. But it also has poor resources for learners outside of formal education, so there's that too.

Trying to take things slow. So I guess it can wait for now.

Had 2 really bad days, still more bad days to come, but those are further in the future.

Managing with roughly 15-30 mins of Japanese, about 15 mins Spanish. Doing 5 mins maths. Doing about 1-2 chess matches a day too. Haven't touched my Lojban whatsoever though, however I'm also recently trying to exercise more too and that takes a bit.

Talking with someone new who is also learning Japanese, so now I have another new Japanese buddy.

Oh that's weird, I have only used Satori through my desktop, but I guess it's because I'm using desktop mode through my Steam Deck or something? Or maybe not even that, but I've ended up managing to make it work on a desktop environment. Maybe they only recently made it accessible on desktops?

And yeah, I plan on running through as much Satori as I can for free before paying. I do believe in it's goal, and wouldn't mind paying earlier if I had the funds, but cash is cash and I'm sort of financially not in the best situation, so want to stall when I can.

After reading most of the books on a website for the graded reading that I am, I ran out, so ended up getting a Satori free account. I think it's still higher level than what I currently am, even for beginner, but I can make out the text clear enough if not the words. I'd probably recommend giving that a try if you think you're able for it. The free account there's no real commitment to anything and you can test out yourself if its your thing or not.

Just a small recommendation.

Had really bad news break a few days ago, and bombed that day, but otherwise doing fine. 30-60 mins Japanese. Doing ever so more Spanish, maybe 20-30 mins a day. Lojban reading only doing a few pages a day. Oddly enough only missing a single day of Japanese, my reviews are peaking at 230 cards to do. I hate it when shit happens. Also to add to some details: the bad news was a few days ago, but I'll be facing the worst of it either tomorrow or the day after and then for a while afterwards, so this might be the last decent study session I'm able to do today for a while. At least until things settle down again. If they can to a degree where I can focus again at least.

Won't get into the bad news details, but wish me both luck and mercy.

Going excellently. I'm pumping roughly 90-120 minutes into my Japanese. Spanish is still only being barely maintained. But I still don't feel quite ready to indulge in Spanish just yet. Lojban is going by slower now, only reading every once in a while. And still need to engage with the community more if I want to pick it up proper. I've been writing a journal in Lojban in order to test the waters.

I had a bum day a few days ago due to computer trouble (computer still is borked), but bounced back very quickly. I do believe I'm finally pivoting out of my depression.

Going excellently. I was told a trick in how to manage my timing when it came to studying. Instead of setting up a 10 minute or 30 minute timer. You get a song or a podcast or a video on in the background, and use that as your timer. So I ended up finding a 7 or 9 minute long song and then just studying with that on repeat. I'm managing like 40-60 minute study sessions for my Japanese, and have finally worked through most of the workload.

Spanish is still just maining a streak, but I want to just fully push my Japanese first before branching off into my Spanish more.

Lojban is going great too. Managed to complete all of Lojban.io in about 5ish days, and now I'm reading the Complete Lojban Language book, going by a chapter a day. I've only complete 2 chapters so far. But with some background knowledge from the past and such, I'm finding it relatively easy to start writing sentences in it already.

Doing maths still, and my reading (of other books) isn't as intense. But I'm at least gaining more steam again.

Scraping by with Spanish streaks. Doing roughly 20-30 mins of Japanese a day. Since I'm not doing Irish and haven't done it for a while I decided to whet my whistle more by studying Lojban. Honestly, restarting my Lojban journey ended up making the rest of my studies a lot easier. Things were novel and interesting again. Only been at it for 3 days, but I'm thinking I might end up temp replacing my Irish for Lojban, at least up until I'm at a decent enough level. And I'm hearing you can get to near-fluency by 6 months time. So going to be targeting that for at least conversational.

My maths and reading has taken a hit, but at least I'm studying more again. Also the heatwave still technically isn't over for me, I'm still reaching 29C most nights, and there's another major heatwave coming next week as far as I've heard. Just need to maintain what I can now and during then. Really don't want to even get a days break, not to mimic what happened last time. It's always incredibly difficult having to think you're restarting from 0 again.

The first book I picked up was The Coming of the Third Reich, by Richard J. Evans, which is a history book on how the Nazis came to power (reading this in part due to history repeating itself and want to mentally prepare). But at some point it become too heavy to continue on properly and wanted to read something lighter, so started reading The Fabric of Civilization: How Textiles Made the World, which is a history book about fabrics. It's really opened my eyes on how important textiles really was, and how even modern computing has some lineage in textiles too.

I think when I'm able for it, I'd want to read about Japanese history in the Japanese language, and Latina/Hispanic history in Spanish. I'd also say Irish history in Irish, but even English, our main language here, doesn't really have decent Irish history books outside of primary and secondary education. But I do have an Irish book picked out that was supposedly an amazing book and helped in part spark a mini revival of the language many years ago, called Cre Na Cille. Which is about undead spirits shooting the breeze in a cemetery. It's supposed to be comical from what I've heard.

Felt very defeated thinking about restarting doing an hour each, then remembered that's actually the wrong way to think about it. Aim for 5 mins over 60 and just rebuild time again. Doing much better now since that. Not fully back on the horse. And there's a heatwave going to happen to us sometime in the next few days so hopefully I can push through then unlike last time.

Doing JP, SP and maths. Irish is nice, but I still feel like I need to flesh out better tooling for that. Atm, it's very difficult starting in Irish without going a full 30-60 minutes. So once I'm back at a better pace I'll try again then.

Also to add: I'm drawing and reading a lot now, so time isn't completely wasted.
