Small write-up of the last 20 mins of the video: (because I need to go do laundry lol)

If you must converse with a fascist:

Principle 1: Stay on message. Maintain control of the conversation. State plainly what is at stake, what they are doing, and don't allow them to change the subject. "What you are doing/saying is hurting people. Stop being an asshole."

Principle 2: If you're explaining, you're losing. Just. Call. Bullshit. Make them explain why it's not.

Principle 3: Fascists by definition are hateful losers. Do not think otherwise. Do not allow themselves to hide or run away or change the subject. Call them hateful. Call them losers. Call them weird. Publicly.

edit: forgor a word

I do recommend Sunshine's listed resources to look at as well:

That makes a lot of sense, at least with what I know about medical stuff (which isn't a ton I'm just a nerd). I'm allergic to red meat and haven't eaten it in several years. Used to crave it like crazy but had an accidental taste a few months ago and it tasted like actual shit.

Wish I could lol. Broke as shit and I can't just leave my family behind. Unfortunately to get Real ID I have to provide my citizenship documents but those are in my deadname + birth sex and I can't get them fixed without a baseline of $1k (have to pay for at least 2 private doctors in the UK to verify I am my chosen gender, plus court fees and 18+ months processing time).

I'm really good at smelling food and when it's about to go off. If my nose even picks up a hint of rot that's all I can smell. It's really bad right now because our fridge died so everything smells like carcass in the house right now (even though it's gone).

do you know if turning off microphone access actually does anything? im assuming my phone is always listening as long as it's got a charge. same with location.

Oh no that also could be it! I was one of the luckier ones that didn't lose complete sense of smell, but it's a lot different now. I wouldn't be surprised if it did fuck with my taste too.

Listen, I understand where you're coming from. But plant farming can be just as bad as animal farming. They cut down massive swaths of local wildlife, trees, flora, and use pesticides and other means that soak into the ground water and run off into lakes and streams. That affects literally everything too.

Yes, animal farming causes massive emissions. It's filled with cruelty and waste. But so is plant farming. You can sustainably farm. But if you shop anywhere but your own back yard you're contributing to that pollution. The produce we get at markets and stores comes from those big battery farms. Even farmer's markets aren't safe anymore - at least here the sellers are no longer small-time farmers. They're resellers and from the big company owned farms that have more acres than workers. Because it's too expensive for small time farmers to keep up with demand.

Vegan leather is so much worse for the enviroment than leather made from skin. Actual leather decomposes and becomes food for the earth. Vegan leather is usually made of plastic. The nail polish my spouse found recently is vegan - it's made with plastics rather than biodegradable materials like beetle shells and plant-based colors.

There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. You are a part of this cycle too.

"Treat others the way you want to be treated" is such a core belief of mine. Im in my late 20s now and I'm more and more disheartened by how rare it is to meet people who believe it. Growing up I couldn't understand. Now that I'm older I still have issues coming to terms with it. People suck and it sucks.

The thing is I don't think I would mind advertising if it wasn't shoved down my throat 24/7. The fact I can't read a webpage without ads blocking everything, I can't watch TV without more than half of the show's runtime being ads in and out of segments, I can't even step outside without seeing the billboard or another 5 ads shoved in my mailbox!

I get 15 some-odd emails a day from different companies trying to get me to buy things. I block them and they pop up with a different email address. I can't even open my email without ads popping up masquerading as actual messages (Gmail). Don't get me started on the entire Google app thing.

I can't open an online map without getting SPONSERED listings. And places I use the app to order from try to advertise me their own food WHILE I'M ORDERING. Panda Express started asking me if I want a subscription to Starz or whatever.

NO. NO. NO.

I'm exhausted. I want to go to a store without being immediately inundated with ads or sellers. "Buy this!" NO. LEAVE ME ALONE.

I'm overwhelmed. I'm overstimulated. I'm done. I don't care how "quirky" or "flashy" or "hip" your ads are. I refuse to buy anything I see ads for now. It's too much. Shut up.

TL;DR: we need controls and limits to who, what, where, and how things are advertised. It should be an enforcable crime to have ads louder than a certain decibel for one. But it's not enforced and fines aren't more than a drop in the bucket. I doubt I'll see it in ny lifetime.

reading this thread I'm glad I'm a removed in a relationship. my spouse is the best. i got so fucking lucky.

there's a massive epidemic of loneliness out there. the loss of the free/cheap third spaces, lockdowns, and social media have made a fucking shitstorm. I'm scared for the generations below me just starting to enter the workforce. so many kids just unable to function properly.

i can't solve it. but I've been putting my devices down more and (trying) to get out more. get more sunlight and fresh air, even if i just sit outside and watch the ducks. it's hard out there. give yourself a break, okay? eat a snack and take a walk.
