Thanks for the advice, everyone! I'm using rsync to back up my home directory on the Deck right now, and I've migrated a lot of my smaller games I'll want to have access to on both the Machine and Deck to a 256 GB microSD I had lying around (including my RetroDeck setup). I've also flashed the SteamOS installer onto a thumb drive.
I think I'll plan to just try putting the Deck SSD into the Steam Machine and see if it boots up and runs properly or not. If it looks like there's any issues, I'll just reinstall SteamOS on it and restore some of the files I'll want to from the backup external drive.
Then I'll do the same with the SM SSD in the SD, reinstall if anything's funky, and then copy files from the backup onto it again (though most of those will be mods and such for larger games that'll just live on the Steam Machine now, so it should be light work).
Just need to make sure to have a list of my Decky plugins in case I need to wipe things and make a list of the Flatpaks I've installed.
Just finishing up Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on my Deck; it's been a blast. Once I wrap that up I'm probably going to tackle Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. On the side, I kind of constantly have Fallout 4 and Automobilista 2 going.
Beauty! I got my purchase e-mail for 512+Controller today, hopefully it’ll be here by the end of next week! I put a 1 TB SSD into my Steam Deck that I’m going to back up, format for the Steam Machine, and then swap the SM & SD drives so my SM is a 1 TB and my Deck is a 512. A bit of work but I’m looking forward to the end result!
Except e-bikes operate in many places that cars do not. Cars being an issue isn't an excuse for anarchy everywhere else. I've seen plenty of people on e-bikes driving 30+ km/h down a public pathway in a park; you won't see a car anywhere within 300 feet of this but it's a clear danger to those in the area.
And I'd hardly call a speed limit for a bike a "burden," and e-bikes have operated in a nebulous zone as mentioned above, they are motor vehicles.
Even if you had to get a plate and follow a speed limit, there are still a million reasons why people should get out of cars and onto bikes (e- or otherwise) to move themselves around.
Snagged one with little trouble, but I was early -- checked at XX:57 and the sale had gone live already, and I had put the money for it in my Steam Wallet last week as I wanted as few failure points as possible.
These things don't usually work out for me, so I have plenty of sympathy for those who got hung-up on the ordering page or just came a bit too late. For myself, I'm quite excited and it seems like it could even be here by the end of the week!
Overall I’m pretty happy with how the game went; Vancouver’s goalie nearly stole the game for them but the Jets didn’t give up. Rosén looked good for the quick turnaround to a new team, but surprise surprise it felt like he was a bit limited by his linemates. Bryson was a surprise; he was very good at moving the puck and I didn’t notice too many major defensive lapses from him; aside from size, he’ll easily replace what we lost on the back-end, especially if Morrissey and Pionk can be relatively productive D-men on the offence.
Lambert…I’m going to give him a few more games. There’s obviously some talent but he makes a lot dead plays that turn the puck over. That said, the 4th line is rocking it right now and I’m happy to see them on the ice.
Vilardi has such good hands whenever he can get 2 feet of space in front of the net. In many ways he’s an average to better than average player, but in that one aspect, he’s elite.
I updated the lines with the latest projected lineup. Not sure about that 3rd line, but I’m guessing Arniel wants to pair Rosén with some experience; that said, if he can move the puck well and help get some controlled entries, I could see it working okay, though I hope he’s ultimately destined to be a 2nd line player so Iafallo can use his grit on the 3rd or 4th line.
Not sure about playing Fleury over Heinola but I could see wanting a bit more size on the 3D line.
I’ll also be really curious to see how Nyquist plays tonight. Getting that goal last game is clearly a huge monkey off his back, and while I don’t think he’s ever heading back to his performance of a couple years ago, I wonder if he can get some regular production going.
Wow; just a dominant performance from the Jets tonight shutting down Tampa Bay 4-1. Walker Duher making a strong case that he should stay in the lineup; he was noticeable on pretty much every shift he was on the ice. Honestly, this might be the most impressive game the Jets have put out on the ice this year. Smothering coverage, smart sticks, putting in the effort to win the 1-on-1 battles, forcing turnovers...it's been a long time since we've seen the style of game that served this team so well last year.
I sometimes wonder why we often lead with Connor and Scheifele; they're excellent scorers largely due to their smarts and playmaking; they're not really lights out talent 1-on-1. Sometimes I'd like to see us throw some others out first.
Honestly, though, that game was so well played and tight, it feels like a let-down for it to end in a shootout. Felt like playoffs and OT should just give them another 20 minutes to go for it.
I'm really loving watching the 2nd line these days. The chemistry continues to grow and it really feels like the first two lines are capable offensively now. The 4th line is doing well at being a 4th line too. Biggest issue is 3rd line feels like its under-performing, but I think that it's going to take the season for Lowry to really recover from his hip surgery.
I mean, I understand this is all reductive, but I think as a CEO the concept of "commercial viability" is kind of an important one since you need money to pay your employees. And players have always had the power; just don't buy slop you don't like. Buy stuff you do like. Sheesh.
Seems like suspension without pay would be reasonable. That said, I have no idea what Gimil’s charter or laws or like. Probably a part of civics I should brush up on.
