Are these options accessible via the in-game menus or some other way? Since this is running via Steam I am guessing it would be done using the Properties sub-menu? Thank you for the suggestion!
My kid has been playing this game for a while and loves it but this update has been nothing but trouble. We had the settings dialed in and running great on his Linux PC and now it runs like absolute drek and all of the road-signs are blank (odd issue) and the dashboard inside of the cars are fuzzed out and super blurry. Tried adjusting the settings to get the FPS back to about where they were (75@1080p) but no idea what needs to be changed to fix the other issues. Apparently there were a ton of complaints already posted so hopefully the devs will do a hotfix or something.

When I set up Fedora on the machines I loaded it on, I normally allocate 50 GB to /root and the balance of the space to /home after setting up my swap and /boot partitions. This has worked well for me so far, YMMV.
It also sounds like its not a bad idea to leave a small percentage of a drive un-allocated but I haven't done this personally.
I love seeing those overpriced dumpsters on the back of flatbed tow trucks...hopefully on its way to be dropped off at a scrap yard. Saw one just the other day during my commute home and I couldn't help but smile.
Also wanted to mention it is currently on sale (50% off) because of the Steam Summer sale. I am almost 80 hours in and still have a lot to try/do so its a great deal at $12.50.
I went with an AMD GPU for the best compatibility (I use Fedora Workstation) and it has been fantastic. Another thing to mention is that even though you don't have access to the Adrenaline software, Mesa drivers work in the background and an application called LACT gives you everything you need tweak/OC, adjust the fans, and check the thermals.

I was raised in a fairly standard religious (protestant) household and actually had a period when I really bought into all of it. But when I reached my teenage years and the things I was reading and being told started to make me ask questions, that the people who seemed to have all of the answers would essentially clam up or double down on the dogma they were throwing out.
Being an atheist in America is a bit of a challenge as an adult, but I have learned to navigate the social situations that would potentially "out-me" to folks who are religious. As a result, I have had many conversations with my kid to prepare them for these kinds of conversations since being an atheist is apparently almost as bad as being a democrat (and a socialist!) in the part of the US I live in. I would like to think that my child will steer clear of religion at this point and that he will remain a free-thinker but I suppose only time will tell.

You beat me to it. I loved my Dreamcast. It had so many great innovations like the VMUs, those chonky controllers, high density discs, and some really excellent games. If you picked up a VGA box it could also display on a PC monitor and you got super crisp video output...I played a ton of Phantasy Star Online and this was the ideal setup. Sadly, Sega screwed up their timing on the release since the PS2 was around the same time, if I recall correctly, and I think that is what ended their contention as a serious console maker since I am sure they lost bucket-loads of money.
I finally unloaded my DC about 6 years ago during a yard sale to a console collector...ahh well, good times.
I may be able to provide some personal experience regarding the first part of the first question, "How reliable is the Power Usage Limit I set in LACT enforced?". The answer appears to be application based and I will do my best to explain.
I was having a persistent issue with my GPU PPT0 throttling during gaming sessions with a specific area in a specific game. This was the first time I had ever experienced this odd behavior which initially presented as a rapid increase in GPU fan speeds and a small loss in frame-rate. By using LACT, I was able to confirm why this was happening and the real-time data was indicating that as soon as the GPU got within about 10% of the power cap, it would start to power throttle. The crazy thing was, the 170 Watt cap would not stop the card from drawing over 190W in short bursts. By increasing the power cap to 190W, it did reduce the throttling somewhat but then my GPU was still exceeding this revised cap and I didn't see any real value in pushing the value higher.
I have a decent safety margin with a 9600X and a 9060XT using a Corsair 750e PSU. I imagine your setup has much higher peak power needs so I would suggest reducing the power cap by 10% to start and then incrementally adjusting the core voltage downwards using the undervolt option. This should allow you to achieve a stable operating level if you are careful and find the sweet spot between performance and power draw. Otherwise, getting a beefier PSU may be your safest bet.
Yeah I am hoping the Dev improves the controller support since I noticed the same thing; I believe that is on the to-do list before 1.0 release. I switched to mouse and keyboard controls and have been playing for over 40 hours with a ton more to do in the game.
Another one to consider if you prefer less intense (i.e. frustrating) combat is Swords N Magic and Stuff. It's on Steam in early access and is a steal for about $25. It offers the large open world and tons of exploration along with a variety of play-style options, crafting, and farming. The only thing it doesn't really seem to offer is the over-arching narrative but there is definitely lore to discover along the way.
This may be one of the most repulsive human beings in US politics (top 10 for sure).
I lived in SC when she started her run for the national stage and she was simping for everyone that would give her air-time. Then she got in a car accident and the other driver was killed and Mace wouldn't shut up about how it "was God's plan that she survive and run". I am so glad she failed and is losing her spot for now at least, I wish her only the worst.

I found that with my linux system (Fedora 44 Workstation), the RX9060XT was thermal throttling almost constantly and the fans just weren't really kicking on; the system seemed determined to keep them off by slowing things down instead.
As someone else suggested, LACT is a great application and allowed me to switch off that damn zero fan nonsense and set a conservative fan curve which keeps the system really quiet in most situations but allows it to ramp up the RPMs when needed.
Under-volting the GPU may also help and there are lots of tutorials on how to do it so definitely worth looking into and LACT will help with that once you enable the overclocking features. As an added bonus, I experienced a decent amount of GPU coil whine and it helped minimize it and also lead to lower GPU core temps.

According to the vendor's spec sheet, this case can handle a CPU cooler that is up to 180mm tall. I used an Arctic Freezer 36 which is 159mm tall and it fits really well with a fair bit of room to spare.
My biggest regret is getting a 2 fan GPU (Sapphire RX 9060XT): 1) because it has a lot of coil whine that even capping the frame rate at 120fps can't completely eliminate and, 2) since I have so much extra space in the case and could have gone with a 3 fan model for even better cooling at lower fan speeds. This case can handle GPUs up to 380mm long (max) and even has a built in, adjustable sag support.
If you don't mind a behemoth on your desk (or under it), I think this one was a good choice and it even had the seal of approval from Gamer's Nexus (fwiw). Build quality is excellent and I have zero complaints so far.
I picked up a Lian Li LANCOOL 217 because I wanted the wood trim and excellent cooling efficiency but it does have a tinted side panel so may not be your thing. It is considered Medium but it is really substantial and surprised me with how much extra space it has inside; the front (2) intake fans are 170mm and it comes with (2) 120mm for cooling the GPU with another 140mm on the back for exhaust. They are all controllable via PWM using a single port on your Mobo so I tuned them for great flow with almost silent fan noise. Can also handle a very tall CPU cooler and massive GPUs mounted vertically or traditionally.
So true. As a former feral/latchkey kid I am no essentially no-contact with my parents because of how shit they were and still are. I don't want my kid to ever wonder if I am proud of them or love them so I never miss a chance to say it. Things can happen so fast and tragedy is all too common in the US with a child in public school.
Same. The only time I have ever waited in line for a game release was the midnight launch of The Burning Crusade expansion for WoW and I can't say it was worth it. Certainly never did it again if that tells you anything.

Second vote for Corsair. I picked up a modular unit and it has all of the modern connectors and really solid price/performance as a Gold rated model.
