I’d love for bands, venues and event promoters to list their upcoming shows on Mastodon. But I can’t really see it happening in the immediate future, since they have to cast the broadest possible net to lure people in. I tend to go to a lot of punk / garage shows (it’s an emotional outlet, I guess) and they’re allllll advertised exclusively on Instagram, often with AI-gen flyers. To add insult to injury.
Diamond Dogs, Turquoise Days by Alastair Reynolds. Seems a witty, post-everything far-future space opera with visually-distinct alienoid characters, through there’s still plenty of page space left for it to tank. We’ll see.
Yes indeed. The original Cliff House in SF is one of those long-lost architectural wonders that I mourn with a profound mourning. The modern, stripped-down version looks like a Burger King.

I saw them maybe a year before this. I don’t revisit their music frequently, but for a period they were the be-all end-all as far as I was concerned.
