But isn't that well known, even from school days? If you've ever explained something to someone you've recognized that by doing that you're forced into overthinking the context, diving deeper into the subject.
It's good to blend asphalt with this nasty plastic. Roads are known to not be exposed to any sort of high mechanical loads, so no risk of constantly adding micro plastic to the environment.
That's the main reason, Linux is still not as widespread as Windows - marketing. If you'd ship all of the sold PCs with a pre-installed Linux, nobody would give a shit.
And why would they? The vast majority of ALL computer users just use functions (email, office, browsing) instead of programs. Oh, I know, I know. If you ask, you always hear Word, Excel, Outlook. But to me that are just synonyms for the tedious everyday tasks most users perform. And if you'd stop training people to repeat tasks and klick buttons and instead train them to understand what they're actually doing ... sigh
Hmm, not sure about that. Waiting for my TV to boot or update or connecting to Wi-Fi or my m music streaming app to 'think' for two minutes until it works at all is tedious. Don't get me wrong - it's still net positive.
But I would instantly choose any option that offers less features if it would give me back this cosy feeling, that I'm the customer and not the product.

If they would make their mind up and start a Linux version or support Proton (I don't see, why the advancement in the gaming world couldn't in principle be applied to productivity software) I would be away from MS at work instantly.

Saying that I would just make a decision after throwing a serious project, multiple parts, workgroups, parameters and technical drawing generation, on it.
