@*_jayrope I know :) For a punk recording the 4-track could be a cool thing to try out, but frankly not sure I have the patience for it anymore. I'm old enough to have recorded in a proper analog studio too, so I know the difference. They also coloured the sound, but in a much nicer way than the cassette recorders of course :)
@*_jayrope Tempting! I still have my old 4-track cassette recorders :) But I was thinking more about keeping the signal analog until it's sampled by the soundcard.
@*_jayrope ah, cool! The original RAT has a lot of crunch, but it kills the bass somewhat. I'm currently waiting for the Billy Sheehan Ultimate Signature Drive from EBS which I think could give me more of what I want. But I could perhaps just split the signal myself, run one branch through the RAT and the other clean, and then mix the outputs again...

How is this one compared to the original? Even more distortion?
