Also double-dipping on my comment but that's why I make a blocklist of all the politics and doomer sublemmys (or whatever they're called). But there's always new ones popping up it's not a sustainable solution.
Btw, I don't have a problem with politics but it is impossible to have a nuanced discussion on politics on social media so no point reading the 24/7 doomer headlines and then scrolling through partisan idiots bickering in the comments.
Same, until I buy a house there's no reason to litter my life with bullshit that just needs to get moved between apartment to apartment. And yea, I've been considering the van life / RV life too. Depending on where you're at financially, the cost of van loan may be far less than what you were ever paying in rent. Of course: I am incredibly blessed and privileged enough to have a completely remote job.
I don't think we can do anything about it until we solve human verification. Not only is human verification a really hard problem to solve (and also while respecting user privacy), there is a for-profit motive to fill the internet with crap (advertisement industry & state propaganda)
Of course the AI bubble will pop massively, but LLMs not being useful in search engines or your OS is utterly delusional. Of course, I'm not talking about AI on Winblows, but having a locally running LLM could prove incredibly useful for providing support for Linux box. Please be charitable and assume that I'm talking about a well designed system and not some slop that would even dare suggest running commands in the terminal. If you have the hardware, might as well use it right?
Prompt: How do I reduce input lag in my game?
Response: Disable full screen compositing for full-screen applications via Settings > Display
i think gaming and online entertainment in general killed the awareness of material conditions. everything is fine as long as we have slop to watch on our damn phones.
The entire “joke” hinges on the idea that that woman’s entire worth is tied into being pretty.
Uhh no, the joke is that a lot of men see women as objects and will watch her streams solely on the fact that she is a woman that they desire to bang. But yea, no matter what lens you look at it, it's patriarchy all the way down. I think watching and developing parasocial relationships with streamers, male or female, is pretty fuckin weird anyway.
Which is not really a horrible realization, we know earth has a shelf life, the question is will we be able to solve space colonization to ensure the survival of our species?
I'm sorry but not going to trust an author who has a very real financial incentive to sell a hypothesis. There are indeed numerous studies that do summarize the negative impacts of social media and smartphones on mental health, and it's also extremely true that the increase in mental health diagnosis can also, at least partially, be attributed to an increase in mental health awareness. My ADHD existed well before I got my hands on tech.
EDIT: to summarize, I don't really take issue with your comment, but I believe that you can find an even better source of information to link to when discussing this topic. Wishing you well!

You do realize the main reason we don't have slavery in many countries is because of the Industrial Revolution, right?
Those are not "whataboutisms" lol

I just look at this picture and then all is well
What do you mean "not grammatically wrong" ?
"An" is used before words that start with a vowel sound.
An orange. A cop. An easter egg. A yeast overgrowth. An hour. A hero. etc.
Oh, you're a fanboy. Got it.

techbro is gender neutral.
So... you hiring?
Yes you heard that right. Leftists, known for their aggressive fight for your rights, are akshually worse than conservatives! What a smart comment.
Humans are social creatures. Many animals get depressed too when they don't have another of its kind to live around.

How much time do you spend gaming a day?
