Totally agree with your concerns about the usb charging bricks. I only use genuine ones there.
I did some further testing with original apple usb-c to lighning cables. Both 18W and 20W managed the same charging speed of around 1500-1600mA in my short test. Maybe I'm fine with only charging older model iPhone?
Tested the data transfer speed today. Both cables managed around 240Mbit. What I didn't expect was the original apple usb-c to lightning cable. The thunderbolt port on my windows notbook managed only 160Mbit.
Found the same article next to the reddit one. That's why I tested the claim of no data transfer and it seems to be wrong in my case? My data transfer seems to work no matter the orientation I plug the cable into my phone.
I take new battery news always with a grain of salt. How often do we see news of a new great battery advancements just so apple can make the devices thinner. Guess we will see in fall.

Does it only work for new notifications and I my need to logout of my account and back in?
Network Manger of KDE is a thing. Managing a buttload of options is still a pain. Been looking for a solution as well.

Just checked and it does transfer data no matter the orientation of the cable.

Tried to delete my account because I didn’t know I could just retype my password.
Had to remove the app and redownload it afterwards I was able to login.
I once had a defective ssd in my proxmox raid which pulled down the performance. Have you checked the individual ssd if their rw speed is up to spec?
