Just finished "The dispossessed", for the xth time starting on the next which according to this ordering is " the word for world is forest". I've read left hand of darkness also before but the other books on the hanish cycle I haven't so figured I'd do the lot.
The dispossessed is very progressive for being published in 1974!
Why can't it be for finding defects AND the rest of the shit you listed?
It doesn't seem like anyone anywhere needs to rethink what they are for. They've proven themselves over and over to be useful for all the reasons you listed.
When interviewing and companies wave away code reviews i consider it a sign of a less mature org (or maybe very small, or maybe a more R&D place).

I don't know about this one. people at companies are pretty quick to talk about code ownership when it comes to on call schedules, but i've never seen them give you the code when you leave.

Since i mentioned short stories, If you like short stories get your hands on all the Ted Chiang you can (not anything like kelly link, but I think of him as the Chopin of short sci-fi.
Since i'm on a roll you may like "there is no antimemetics division" which is a little horror-sih may also be up your alley.
It seems to me that they could not possibly have made these demands without the expectation that we'd walk away.

If you liked recursion, which IMO was fun but a little easy to poke holes in you should consider ted chiang (IMO The best short SciFi story writer)
The radio play for hhgtg is highly worth while as well.

Few people who use these apps expect to be surveiled. That may make them ignorant, but that doesn't change that this is a breach of their privacy.

Brightness is obviously an issue ... Id be happy with them pointed at the fucking road, there is nothing at other drivers eye level you need to see
