I was made aware (with threats) of a very similar design when I posted this on reddit. I designed this independently and was made aware of the design after I had already uploaded my model.
It wouldn't necessarily lower print time and it definitely wouldn't look as sleek. Also the material savings will be in the grams if there will be any, so I see nonpoint in it. But you are free to experiment and remix my model.
Fair take. I usually don't keep it in one place. I mostly watch long form content while I work and have never encountered the problem of my phone needing to be charged in the vertical orientation. I may implement your suggestion at a later date, but you are welcome to remix my design if you are unwilling to wait. Cheers, and thanks for the feedback!
I honestly never thought of that, maybe in a future model at some point. I rarely ever charge my phone on the stand, and only when it's horizontal. But I am glad for the feedback!
If your printer is tuned well and is direct drive, there should be absolutely nothing in your way. Just print the parts separately and, if you want, in different colors. Happy printing!
Apologies for such a belated answer, but I would advise you to steer clear of Tinkercad. It is fairly limited in what it can do, and the skills you acquire there don't really transfer to more advanced CAD software. If I were you, I'd start in Fusion 360, even though I don't like it and use FreeCAD myself, because it's beginner friendly and there are a lot of tutorials on how to use it and for what. I would also advise you to start with something simple, like a hook for example. It is a fairly steep learning curve, and there are quirks if you are making something for 3D printing specifically. If you want more info, don't be afraid to DM me, I'll try to set you on the right path. Cheers!

I haven't tried it, it may still work with your phone. It may just not sit flush with the bottom of the stand. No guarantees though.

Luckily, I have learned to pre-orient my models correctly, to avoid such fiascos.

Never saw it before, does look similar though. But I guess there are only so many ways of making a thing fit inside another thing through a cutout.
