Not defending bad parenting and child abuse but

"If you don't have a kid, then you don't have the right to speak on this situation,"

I think you are misunderstanding the argument. It’s not that non-parents don’t have the right to speak, but that they lack the experience to judge the situation.

Not saying this is a valid argument in the situations you described, those are clearly wrong and you don’t need kids to know this, but that’s where they’re coming from.

A milder example would be non-parents judging parents for letting their kids watch TV for extended periods of time, when they’ve don’t know the struggle of having to baby-sit a toddler 24/7.

you don’t own my time.

That’s my point. If someone writes first and then calls they are wasting my time twice.

No, the polite way is to skip the preamble and just call. Either they pick up or they don’t.

/edit: I took this meme to mean at work, where being on call is expected. In that case I‘d rather get called directly than getting interrupted twice by writing first.

Outside work: don’t call unless this is an emergency.

He cooked is good, he’s cooked is bad. You’re either holding the pan or you’re in it.

I’m a mathematician. My math brain shuts off when the units are in currency.

I think what’s happening is that each individual company has a positive ROI on ads in the sense that they would lose more than a dollar in sales if they spent a dollar less on ads, but collectively the ROI is probably smaller than one: if all companies would cut their advertising budgets in half they would all be better off, as they would keep their sales roughly the same.

So adverting is less about sales volume (people don’t necessarily buy more things when they see more ads) but about market share (you get a bigger piece of the cake). Classic prisoner’s dilemma.

Even in a country with „free“ healthcare, if you are at fault for the accident, your car insurance will have to reimburse the other parties health insurance for their medical costs.
