Try using /nar instead of /sys, it might work because i've been using /nar for similar situations that you described using /sys, but i haven't encountered anything like what you said.
I personally have never used the story generator but i am experiencing a similar problem in the character chat, where the ai just breaks down into unadulterated chaos. The only fix that i could see is to restart the narrative but to put what has happened so far into the lore/memory. I know that it's not a good fix and might not even work in the story but i hope it works for you.
One thing that you can do (now bear with me because this might take a bit), is to go to the ai character generator, keep prompting until you find an image that you like, then chat with them and then whenever you want to make a specific scene, describe it in the chat and then click the image button. It's a very complicated process and i wish there was a more direct way, but so far i haven't found anything yet, so this is the next best thing. Sorry for being unspecific, I meant like anime and cartoons because I've seen people make anime characters by just referencing them in the prompt. Thank you for your assistance anyway though.
