In my country, part of the EU it started this week. It's forced and if I try to block it using ublock origin, the site does not even allow to scroll down.
Do not get me wrong. I used to love custom ROMs since the days of android 1.6.
But if I pay 500€ and more for a phone I would not risk to unlock the bootloader. For my specific device (Samsung A52s) the camera app does not even open if I unlock the bootloader using the stock ROM.
Unfortunately it is not feasible for every day use. Camera, payments, netflix...

I feel the same, at least for a homelab. It's very feature rich though.
For that reason I switched to Keycloak. It seems a lot faster.
Keycloak seems a little bit faster in my case, and it is simpler to setup. It has less containers.
However Authentik is has more features.
So, depending on your use case, I'd use one of those. Both are great!
IDK
Yeah. I get it. It's good for old devices to be useful for years to come.
What about the battery though? Having a device with an old battery plugged in the socket 24/7 is a fire hazard.
I would love to use my old nexus 10 with this perfect screen today. There is still no way to use a mobile device without a battery plugged in...
Make sure to check for camera support. When I unlocked the bootloader from an old Xperia phone, camera performance was reduced a lot.
Pictures were never the same after that.
Really? I haven't checked the scene recently! Wow! I have some reading to do!
Thanks!
... and again. Not the same.

For an old phone, yes. It's a good idea.
What about the camera? That's the only real problem for me.
