Went to the second edition of Thurso Pride. Had a lovely day. Then enjoyed the sunset, even if it was far too late in the evening. I’m feeling particularly thankful to live in such a beautiful place.

Had a lovely 1.5 weeks in Austria. A few days with a fellow former American (don't judge me!). Then our thrice yearly company offsite. Always a boozy affair. My God though I am so ready to be back home in the Far North. It turns out that after only a year living there 25C+ more feels like a raging inferno. Not looking forward to the wife's aunt and uncle coming round though. Ah well.

Disclaimer: drinking alone in Reykjavik at the moment

You might be surprised! There is a non-trivial amount of Scottish ancestry in Iceland. When Iceland was being settled by the Norse, they stopped off adding the way in Shetland, Orkney, and Caithness to gather supplies and... Well.. Slaves. But there is a lot of cross over between the two areas. I suppose it depends on where in Scotland your ancestry lies.

Same! I was on a road trip in Ireland and it came out of nowhere. Freaked me out. I'd never had one until a few months after my first bout with COVID. Now I get them but usually only if I've not been drinking enough water for a few days, and ONLY when I stand up. It's preceded by a weird sort of throbbing where it feels like sound is turned down in time with my heartbeat.

Not as much as I should to be honest. I may have enjoyed a few drams this week while looking out at the view though. Thankfully we have a lovely conservatory that looks out at Dunnet Head. Might have a venture out soon it should be glorious this weekend!

Mostly unpacked now from moving to Caithness. It's been a long week of fixing things the previous owners left broken. Still loads more, but I'm planning on spending the weekend being a hermit and playing video games like it's my job. Sure not exciting, but I'd like to forget about the £1200 I spent on a plumber this week.

On the plus side the weather has been stunning!

Ah nice! It's been quite a big change for us. It's our first house, so still wrapping my head around that AND trying to figure out how things work and what to do around these parts. I'm out near Mey, it's truly a beautiful part of the world though, and so far the people we've met have been lovely. It'll be interesting to see how it is over the coming months in tourist season though!

Not yet, but I've seen it around. It looks bloody lovely! The true problem here is finding a driver. Maybe it's worth splashing out on a taxi so I can have a drink!

EDIT: Stupid autocorrect

Moved to Caithness recently. It's our first house, so it feels like my life is DIY these days. At least we've had some lovely weather though!
