Can anyone who works in the security space tell me if we are as cooked as I think we are?
With ai I'm assuming any script kiddie with motivation has access to a SIGNIFICANTLY larger surface area of attacks. And sometimes I do stupid things like wait an extra few days before updating my pc/software.
I have this suspicion that everything digital is far more vulnerable now than it ever was. But I have only surface level knowledge in the space. Is it as bleak as I think?
I'm usually very pro consumer but I'm less bothered by this one because apple has 0 incentive to abuse that power. People would riot. Although thinking about it a government demanding its use could be a concern too...
I think people underestimate the power of collective action. People have been underplaying the strengths of these actions in online discourse to the point where I wonder if its coordinated.
Being loud and boycotting does work. And even if it doesn't why support anti consumer practices.
EndeavourOs can't recommend it enough. Its arch but easy. Comes with gnome seems to install with 0 issues on every machine I've owned. If arch feels like home this is a great option
Non fiction I'd recommend atomic habits (self help), nuclear war: a scenario (existential horror),~~ and Outliers (thought provoking)~~. Yes Man (interesting)
Fiction I'd recommend There is no Antimemetics division (regular horror), Exhalation (thought provoking short stories), and A Memory Called Empire (very good commentary on cultural assimilation).

Genetic diversity might be the only thing that saves us in another pandemic. Kind of like how strains of bananas all go extinct at once if they're genetic clones.

I'm 90% sure this whole fancy chefs knife thing is a scam. My knife is the cheapest one I could find. Been 15 years and it still does the job. I mean you have to sharpen it but that's about it. Granted I'm also not a chef so this is for daily cooking
Moving offline is the best one I have. Talks about digital minimalism quality feed. Nerd fitness one is pretty cool too. The rest that I have are very location specific.
I'd be curious to hear which ones you follow as well. Always looking for new feeds

Do work, get cheque, leave. Why get drained emotionally if you aren't being paid for it.
