The reasons us elders use VI is because on a new installation, it was the only thing available until:

  1. You are lucky enough to find a compiled version of PINE/PICO, or

  2. You have the compiler installed, and can get the source code and build it yourself.

For some reason, some elitists decided that if you don't know that, then you are a failure. But honestly, when modern distros started coming out with WYSIWYG-type editors, it was a relief, even though I reverted to VI/VIM because of muscle-memory, I do not push it on new users. It's the same argument people make for driving manual vs automatic, sure it's useful, but when was the last time you even saw a manual car? (At least in North America).

You want to live dangerously, go ahead and put NetBSD with just the basics and leave the rest of us who want to do something useful alone.

Try posting the kernel panic messages, they should give an idea about the failure.

Proxmox has its own custom kernel, it may be something in the new 7 branch as opposed to the conservative 6 branch that Debian uses.

99% of the time it will be some driver that you don’t really need and can disable.

It wasn’t as dramatic as it sounds honestly. I was going down the service ladder and had to stop and test the cable halfway through.

My manager at the time turned white as a sheet when he found out I did that.

I second Mailcow. I use it on a residential IP and have a smarthost for relaying in/out since my isp blocks port 25.

For relay, I use mxroute.com, I have a lifetime account and Mailcow has a fetchmail option.

Not American, and couldn’t find a non-partisan resource, but here goes:

Our voter hotline exists to answer questions that cannot be easily answered online. The hotline is monitored by DNC employees who are prepared to field questions pertaining to felon disenfranchisement, voter purging, poll worker misconduct, voter machines, and accessibility. The hotline regularly operates on weekdays from 9:00am-6:00pm EST/EDT, and expands to both weekdays and weekends from 9:00am-9:00pm EST/EDT starting in October during election years.

If it was just their own health that is being impacted, I would have ignored it, but the fact that unvaccinated people are dangerous to society is what make me mad. I had a discussion with someone who insisted it is their right, and that the guberment have no business insisting that they get the vaccine while working for the federals. Trying to explain that you can either abide by society's rules or "leave" didn't get me anywhere, it's like those people believe that society exists to serve only them and not the other way around.

Humanity is doomed. And I really really fear for my kids and their kids, IFF my kids can afford to have children of their own.

Can we just leave this planet already?
